Just wanted to say that, again.

Time after time after time I'm seeing, "I dropped my xxx and now it doesn't work" or "I got my yyyy wet and now it doesn't work." or "My zzzz is 2 months old and now it doesn't work."

Heh. Yeah. And I don't even have it yet. What is the expected lifespan on PV's (other than ProVape gear) anyways? 200 hours? Good grief. No wonder people love mechs if the failure rate on mods is so high.

I'm not knocking individual manufacturers. They are what they are. Which is not something designed for 20,000 hr mean time between failures. (I'm guessing from watching the tour that's the standard Provape is using. It's actually a mil-spec for 10 years of constant use.)

Which is what I consider appropriate for something that's going to get dropped, dunked in water, have dust land in it, and generally be tortured. Now if it lasts as long as a slot machine, then I'll truly be impressed. I've worked on slots that have survived over 30 years in a casino, one of the nastiest environments on the planet for electronics.

Mostly showing my relief at being pointed to the good stuff that's made to last instead of thrown away after a year or two.

I know. Even if your ProVari breaks for some unknown reasons, it can easily be sent back to get it fixed. Someone left lost their ProVari outside and found it months later, picked it up and it still fired even after being out in the weather for that long. They should last forever even if the paint wears off.

p.opus did a test and put a ProVari in water on purpose, took the battery out, dried it off and put it into a bag of rice for 24 hours or so. He tried it after that - with a new battery and it fired just fine. I can't remember what happened to the ProVari and lawnmower mishap. Not sure who won that battle. :)

I think the lawnmower won, but that's the only battle the Provari lost. :) Good stuff. Although I do wish they hadn't changed the sealant. I don't plan on dropping it into an adult beverage, but stuff happens. Besides which, I tend to clean pretty much everything with vodka or Everclear. (Even minor wounds. I have drinking alcohol on hand; isopropyl or iodine, not so much.)

It's also why I'm guessing they probably aren't as tough as a slot machine. We'd just label them as drunk when that happened and wait for 'em to dry out. It was funny when a customer would look at the tagged out machine. But then I'm easily amused.

That's one of the reasons I broke down and got a SS blem. No paint, no worries.

Amazing about that one having been left outside. How many other stories are there like that around here? Becha you couldn't do that with anyone else's mod.

I wanted one mod that would keep on working no matter what.
I've dropped my satin silver a lot and you can't really tell my black one is one month older and looks pretty beat but works great

Oh, I like the 'distressed' look they get after a while, but for my first, well, I wanted something that would stay looking new.

Of course the fact it was $130 didn't have anything to do with it, nosiree. ;) I actually wanted a gunmetal grey one, but with the way I treat electronics, I figured it would be better to start with something less likely to show wear.

I've always kept my phones and tablets in some kind of case or with protective skins on them. I'll probably get one eventually, and again, with the bare metal, it should be a lot easier to change skins.

I use Serenity Gear sleeves on mine and they still look pristine. But I'm not that hard on my equipment and have an office job. 99% isopropyl alcohol does work the best, IMO. I've tried Everclear before I bought a bottle. It works and if that's all you have, it's fine to use.

Heh, I've used gin to clean things (and people). What can I say? I used to work as a bartender.

Normally I'm always out and about. I work in a computer and electronics lab these days. You would not believe how often things get dropped in a lab like that.

I've looked at the sleeves and may get one at some point. Either that or figure out some way to use a tool holster of some kind so I don't put it down. I loose everything. Keep threatening to make a robot just to follow me around and remind me where I left x.

Yeah, mechs just don't interest me that much. Many of them are beautiful, don't get me wrong, but I don't see the point.

I like having one device I can count on, day in and day out, no fuss or bother. Rather like my phone, actually. It gets used, hard, every single day. My notebook, same way. My tablet, during the school year, at least a few hours every day. I wear the same shoes every day except in the dead of winter. And I do mean dead of winter, too.

I went mech crazy for about a month. Had two panzer clones and a King clone. I got bored really quick when vaping stated becoming what I didn't want it to become. A hobby. Way too involved for me. Sold everything off. I did end up picking up another King just to have around for dripping. Only $20 so no biggie.

I have several survival stories in my Why Provari? blog.

The guy whose Provari was run over by a lawnmower contacted me to let me know that he sent the damaged Provari to Provape just for kicks, and they salvaged the chip and put it into a new body for him.

That kinda goes against what all the mech lovers have to say about how all regulated mods are not as durable as mechanicals because of their electronics and chip. The Provari is built to be just as durable as any mechanical mod.

Now THAT is customer service. Although I bet it was worth it for the "Did you hear the one about ... ?"

I do the same thing, usually at work. I'll set my mod down, and just forget about it. That or I drop them.
So when I got the ProVari, I ordered the vegas bindery sleeve and lanyard with it, and I rarely take it out. Haven't had a problem with losing it or dropping it since, obviously lol. The weight around my neck is also kind of a constant reminder of my addiction to nicotine.

I think that might have to find a passage in the ProVarinati bible...'yea, though I enjoy the unceasing vapor produced by mine scepter, its burden upon mine neck is a constant reminder of the addiction I face.

It'll need some rewording...

I fully and completely understand! I have had another mod (won't mention the name, it is not my intend to bash) for two months. In the first week I started having problems. Got it fixed, but two days ago (at just a couple days after the second month) it started again. Display shows weird Ohms readings, then short, and won't fire. I believe the pin is shorting out, but too frustrated to work on it last night.

Ordered a SS blem last night. Cant wait for it to get here!!!!

I wonder if they have a hall of fame that they keep all of the beat to death Provaris.
