my sister made garlic mashed potatos one year..not to be repeated again!!!
Oh no!! I make Garlic "smashed" Potatoes all the time, and everybody loves them!!
I never peel my potatoes, and cook the garlic in the water along with them... (approx. 1 clove per spud) and smash it a little bit first. (I used to roast the garlic, but this way is so much easier!!) And when it is cooked like this, it takes some of the bite out of it...
After they are cooked, and the water is drained (being careful not to lose the garlic) I add some milk and butter, then lightly 'smash' the potatoes so they stay chunky... YUM!!
