That is very good info, thanks! One question though. If the black RCR123 batteries is what was recommended why would they be recommended over the red, if they cannot utilize the full voltage of the device?
I got the black ones which are recommended on the website and here so just curious?

Though the FAQ didn't specifically recommend either Red or Black 16340's over the other, most users seem to prefer the black AW ICR 16340's which are 3.7 volts - not the lower-voltage RCR123A's.

However, a quick bit of research finds that there are batteries out there labelled as "RCR123A" both in both 3.0 volt and 3.7 volt ... and some manufacturers refer to their products as "RCR123/16340" regardless of the voltage. Which might make sense to them since the packages are largely the same, but it makes things confusing for some of us since we can't even say, "Just use 16340's" and be sure someone will invariably find the right thing.

Another aspect of this (for some folks, not all, and not pointing any fingers) that I find frustrating is that people can become SO wrapped up in saving a buck or two on batteries, or frustrated with limited availability of specific makes/models, that they end up looking at stuff outside the recommended parameters and finding, buying or using products with incorrect specifications or not intended for a particular use. Not only is that confusing for all, it is time-consuming to those of us trying to ensure no one buys something they won't ultimately be unhappy with ... or worse, that is potentially unsafe.

Hopefully more folks can see now why it is SO much easier to just make one recommendation of what you KNOW will work well and be done with it!

Anywho, there are already several updates and add-ons to the FAQ. But I'm not going to do daily updates unless information is found to be drastically incorrect, misleading or unsafe (which I do not think is the case, yet). And I'm not going to turn it into a "Battery FAQ" -- there are already plenty of those out there if one takes the time to find them.

I will do a bit more research and thinking on how to make the battery section more comprehensive and clear for the next update.

Source?? Very interesting that the 550 has that much higher capacity than an 880 or 750. I recall someone stating they put the protected ICR123's on a higher end charger that shows specs and said they were like 523mah.

This one here has some good stats.

I haven't been on since yesterday and just want to congratulate everyone who got a BB and console those who didn't. Don't worry there will be more soon! I do have a couple questions tho....

So which battery is better? The black protected AW or the Red? all the charts and numbers sometimes confuse my puny human brain :D

If I want to polish up my BB and get rid of scratches what should I use? Is there anything that will work with aluminum and stainless steel?

Did you end up getting a BB yesterday Silent Echo?

I am sure if I read through the thread I can find some of these answers, but at the moment I am pressed for time. So I figured I would just ask. I did get to see Vapians FAQ and I must say excellent work, you are a gentleman and a scholar :)

I'm not sure what Doug would recommend but I always used "Mothers" metal polish on all of my Harley D. I've used this on my other aluminum and other ss mods and it works wonders.

I have given this ALoT, of thought. You should see our sites e-mail box, really, as many e-mails a day as this thread has pages. The best thing i could think of is to get more CNC machines and more people.... and that is coming alone pretty good so far. i am really sorry this is a hassle, i don't want this situation for anyone, but i did call it.... i knew it was coming, so i am, and have been, gearing up. There is only really one solution, and that is make more.... soon BBs will be a free prize in cereal boxes, you'll open your car door and 5 will fall out and you won't even pick um up.... (well, maybe not)

Thank you man, for your thoughts and reply. I didn't mean to sound like a complainer. I was just verklempted. It's just that you anticipate something so dearly, for so long, and then the wind goes out of you so quickly when it doesn't become a reality. You work at it all day..and boom....no dice. lol

Anyway. It's simple economics. And it's driven by a FANTASTIC product! And a FANTASTIC inventor behind it! And yes, the only logical solution is an attemp at bringing supply closer to demand, and I commend you on your moves in this direction. Finding equilibrium may be futile, however, because the Billet Box is entirely too Epic Awesome! I am just glad that you are approaching the future with sustainability in your focus.

I'll be around. As I luv this group and the great people in it! And I WILL be a proud owner of a Billet Box some day. It's soooo gonna happen! I am channeling my very own Silent Echo confidence! lol

I should have been more mentally prepared for devastation yesterday, but I am all good today. I will be more prepared for the future because of it. :)

Happy Saturday Everyone! And Vape on!!!

Ive been looking at what battery's to purchase, there is a chap who uses the uk e cig forums and also sells battery's and torches etc and he does all this testing :) he only stocks good stuff.

Im interested in the yezl's as they are protected and i can buy them for 6.99 a pair (about 12 bucks or something) but there size is slightly longer than most it seems but im reading conflicting things about the size of the black aw(which doug recomends)

yezl size is 35.8 16.7 Ive read on a old super t thread someone state the black aw are about the same but i cant confirm :(

In terms of run times tho this could mean about 30 % more battery life witht he yezl or the unprotected imr's(imrs being double the money tho)

DD would and does recommend Mother's.

Seeings how DD liked my posts about editing out of posts saying what the payment method was, I certainly hope you all did that?
Starting at about page 312. Thanks:)

Good catch and good job, 2nd. I also hope everyone goes back quickly before they can no longer edit.
