Q. Why is there juice around and behind my tank? I was really careful when I filled it.

Q. When should I replace the tank o-rings or silicon gasket for the cartomizer positive pin?
A. The o-rings or gasket should last quite a while under normal use, but should be replaced whenever they are obviously nicked or damaged.
Even if damage is not obvious, replacement may be indicated if:
O-rings: Liquid drips or drains from top or bottom of the tank.
Silicon gasket: Excessive liquid "condensation" is consistently found behind, under or on top of the tank.

To be fair, the gasket may not actually be damaged yet. But if you're not getting obvious leaking from the tank, the brass ring may be a little too loose or too tight which can compromise the seal provided by the positive-pin gasket.

Hopefully DD will weigh in on this as well - he helped diagnose the issue when I experienced it early on. It still happens to me from time to time, but I do have a tendency to crank the brass ring down too tight.

CARTOMIZER QUESTIONS

Q. Where should I punch or slot my cartomizers?
A. At home, at work, wherever ... Billet Box Vapor recommends punching a hole about 8-11 mm above the bottom edge of the cartomizer body.

Q. My cartomizer tastes burned/dry.
A. Please phrase your question in the form of a question.

Q. Fine. WHY does my cartomizer taste burned/dry?
A. Sometimes a cartomizer just sucks.

TANK QUESTIONS

Q. Do I have to fill the tank through the filling hole in the front?
A. If the tank is installed in the Billet Box and you don't want to remove it, then yes.
If the tank is not yet installed or you don't mind removing it, you can fill it just like any other cartomizer tank -- for example, by pushing the bottom of the cartomizer in and filling from the bottom, or using tank-filling tool or extended drip tip to push the cartomizer down and fill it from the top. Life is about options.

DRIP TIP/BRASS RING QUESTIONS

Q. What should I use to back out or tighten the brass ring?
A. A standard U.S. quarter or nickel coin is ideal. These will fit right into the slots on the brass ring and provide more than enough leverage.

Q. What if I don't have the required coinage?
A. Some folks have found that their drip tip fits in tight enough to loosen or tighten the brass ring, no coin required. Just don't tighten it down too much to easily remove later.
Some users have reported using a corner of the back plate to tighten/loosen the brass ring. While this does work, be careful to to not bend the back plate as getting it perfectly straight again could be difficult, and replacement back plates are not available at this time.

BATTERY QUESTIONS

Q. How long do those batteries last in the Billet Box?
A. Short answer: until they die. Long answer: Most users report anywhere from 1/2 to a full day of vaping with a freshly charged pair of batteries and a 3.0 ohm cartomizer. Depending on your cartomizer resistance and how you vape, YMMV.

Q. Aren't 123-Type batteries lower voltage than 16340's?
A. Yes, No and Maybe. Broadly speaking, 123-type batteries have historically been used in 3.0 volt applications such as flashlights and photography equipment. However, while there are standards out there battery manufacturers are not really held to them and can make and label their batteries any way they want that is relatively safe for a particular purpose. As a result there are some (such as the AW ICR 123's) that are 3.7 volts.
The Billet Box will work with 3.0 volt batteries, but the upper voltage range will be limited to 4.8 volts (no matter how much higher you turn the dial). They can be used "in a pinch" but probably should not be used as your primary batteries.

Confused yet?

MISCELLANEOUS QUESTIONS

Q. Katdarling said there would be cake!
A. Don't listen to her. The cake is ... well, you know. . .
.

So what do you do when you dry pull and get no bubbles, but your carto is still pulling juice through and working semi normally? By semi I mean occasionally I'll get a "chemical" taste. Not burning though. If I let it sit for a few minutes, the taste goes away.

Bigger holes?

2nd day, i had semi dry hits, loss of flavor. said eff this...got a syringe and shot about 10% of distilled into the tank (give or take) now my boge 510 with 2 holes about 1.5 mm or so, is wicking so insanely good its unbelievable. more flavor...chain vaping huge clouds. with MBV 70vg/30distilled premix

i think anything short of a 3rd hole i wouldnt get much fluid into the carto. it just wouldn't do it even after going back and enlarging the holes

There's a good chance mine is going on a shelf until there's an RBA solution.

I really, really dislike the tank design. There's no way I'd ever use the 'convenient' filling valve because there's no way I could ever run out of juice before the nasty taste made me vomit. There's no easy way to remove the juice to replace the carto. That's the big problem, because I'm on my 3rd carto in less than 3 days and when it gets funk I seriously can't bear to take another drag. I've spilled and wasted more juice in 3 days than in the past 2 years.

I'm going to keep at it a few more days, but I'm already looking at it differently because when I see it all I can think is, "do I need nicotine bad enough to deal with that filthy taste."

jubal81.......sorry you are having such dificulty with making the transition to the Billet Box.....I think your somewhat negative view is the first I've seen concerning the Billet Box design......

Three carto's in 3 days is not normal for any device, let alone the BB.....you are certainly doing something wrong....

This may help ya out...... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-forum/357383-billet-box-366.html#post9296642

We all want a great vape and I hope you find yours.....many, including me, get 5 to 7 days use out of a carto before the draw gets stiff while using about any device you want to mention.....I must respectfully disagree that the BB design is flawed.....yep I do not own a BB only because I only use devices that are variable wattage, but the design is just spot on.....my hope is that you get it sorted out and you achieve a great vape.....good luck..

And, if you want to post what carto, what ohm rating, what juice you are using, what voltage setting, and etc. here I'm sure there are alot of good folks here who would help you out...... :):)

Doh! I knew I read something about the condensation somewhere, and as many times as I read your FAQ I should have remembered it was in there. It is definitely a condensation issue around the top of the carto. Pulled the tank for the first time since getting it last night and had a hard time getting it out due to the juice build-up creating some adhesion between the back of the tank and the back wall. There was a bit of juice all around in the tank cavity and on the tank itself and had to pop it out with a pen. Cleaned it all up and reassembled and used it for an hour or so and then saw your post this morning so I poped it out again to check the bottom gasket (which is fine) and found more condensation but just around the carto lip at the top and on the back wall at the top. Checked alignment of the brass ring and carto and they seem to line up so... I snugged it down a little tighter this time (maybe I'm just being overly cautious about the gasket on the bottom) so we'll see how it goes.

Thanks Vapian!

I am going to try something a bit different, think disposable Diver atomizer. The Raven from Got Vapes is a fillerless tank carto. Yes they are a flanged XL but I don't think the flange will be an issue and the length can be cured easy enough in the drill press. I have some coming, will be an interesting experiment...

Well said sir.. But I do have a question, why do you only use VW devices? Isn't wattage calculated by ohm x voltage?

Just trying to understand .. My evic is the only vw device and I use it, but don't see a difference with vv other than the number

I seem to be going well with 2 larger holes and 100% VG juice...

I turn my carto punch 9 times, or until I cant turn it anymore to get an optimally large hole :)

:2c:

What kinda punch are you using?

That looks pretty interesting, I wonder how it'll work and how long it'll last. Are those like the top-coil CE2 type cartos? I remember I used to use standard length stainless CE2's in an old carto tank. I'd slot them, they'd last forever pretty much but definitely wicked terribly lol.

So far this third hole is holding up fine. I expect this cartomizer to last for a while at this rate :)
