I have an unrelated question. Has anyone's BB seized up, in the closed position, on them? I can't open mine now, to change the batteries. I've noticed it getting tighter and tighter recently, but didn't think it would go THIS far.

It's probably me because I can break stuff with the best. But I'm not sure WHAT to do now. If anyone has any experience like this, I'd appreciate the assistance.

Thanks.

It happened to me...I had to gently and carefully open it with a chisel-shaped Xacto blade. Very carefully insert the blade at the corner, and gently twist the blade. Repeat at the other corner.

Remember, this is aluminum, and it's a soft metal, so go slow. Once the top edge is open a bit, you should be able to put the edge of the blade at a 45 deg angle, an push on the top edge

You may have to push one side, then the other. When it's open enough for you to use your fingers, stop using the blade and wiggle it on out. I found that the grooves on the box and lid were black with aluminum oxide. Clean out the grooves and the lid really well. I used isopropyl alcohol, paper towels, and a plastic knife. Keep cleaning until the towel is clean. Clean the ball in the same way, pressing and turning until the towel is clean. I used a tiny bit of olive oil on the grooves and ball applied with a q tip.

You can best believe I keep those grooves clean now!

THANKS, AKDARE!!!

THIS is going to an interesting effort. If I totally destroy the thing, I'll post pictures so everyone can laugh with/at me.

If you are not comfortable with blade in hand, try one of those silicone grippers, like for opening a jar. Once I used a silicone baking sheet and worked just as good, if not better as I laid it on a portion to grip the back while using a flap to open front. I am sure you are strong enough to open, it is just a matter of leverage and slipperiness.

Oh, I'm perfectly comfortable with a blade in hand, my concern is that this one would be pointed at my Billet Box ;-)

Seriously though, that's a good idea. And I'm going to try it.

Yes, do try that first. I did. But mine was too seized to budge.

I have a feeling mine might be in this category too. "Not enough" strength is (unfortunately) never my problem. It is the exact opposite, and is outside of my control. I should have seen this coming instead of continuing to jam it back closed. My bad.

Thinking, what a concept.

Before the blade, try pushing down in the center of the door a few times, not sure what it does except move the lock ball slightly. If that doesn't work I've found that using both hands, near the top of the door with my thumbs pushing down hard then sliding the door with them will usually get it to start moving. Only once have I had to resort to tools to break it loose.

On cleaning it , the first time it takes the two thumbs trick to open it it gets cleaned that night, I learned that over the last 7 months. I use q-tips and rubbing alcohol to get the black crap out of the grooves and any crap off the lock ball. I also slightly over oil everything and work the slide door a few times then clean up the excess. This usually keeps it working smooth for 2-3 weeks.

Had to add, the tool use was the first time.

IT'S FREE! The old bottle cap opener trick, eh? Worked like a charm! And not a scratch on the BB either. Thanks everyone, for all of your input. Gotta git to cleanin' now. And oilin'!

According to the BB Facebook page, you need 2,4ohms res at least! Will be difficult in the diver no?!

That is just the safe number. The key is not drawing more than 3 amps of current. So just use an ohms law calculator, put in the voltage you like and use 3 amps for the current and that will spit out the lowest resistance value you can use. So if you use lower voltage, you can decrease your resistance. Can't remember off the top of my head, but I believe 1.4 or 1.5 ohms was about the lowest you should run. Anything in the 2 ohm range will be safe.

Forgot to add.....make damn sure you use protected batteries always!!
