Anyone please??:)

Yeah, he has been absent from here for several months. But seems like pretty much every Saturday around noonish EST, they put up the BB for sale on the site. Last sale took an entire 30 minutes to sell out, so they have really upped the production. If you do a thread search, there is plenty of info about using a page monitor so you don't have to sit there hitting refresh every micro second. Anyway, hope that helps you.

Ya'll are going to be very surprised at what has transpired today. Very eventful day in the world of the Sabot DDD! We are up to version 6, but I am not letting the cat out of the bag. I will let Dan post it when he has it finished. Let's just say....AWESOME and something never seen on this style device!!!!!

Sort of like knowing what the exit polls are the afternoon of a presidential election, but can't spill the beans lol.

alrighty, ive used SABOT for a few hrs now..

first, it has a very airy draw, at least for me. significantly airier than billetbridge, and even my Reo with RM2. but i prefer airy draws so its great for me.

secondly, vapor production.. is FANTASTIC. i made the mistake of not opening the widows while i was driving and it was like my car got hit with a smoke bomb. massive vapor production.

third, vapor taste/flavor. it was.. a bit muted, similar to billetbridge.. maybe it's just my tastebuds or the juices i was using.. but its very comparable to billetbridge. so if you like the flavors from BB, i think you'll enjoy SABOT very much.

now.. i did notice a slight "problem" tho. when i was trying to take out the tank, i noticed the brass ring wouldnt come lose even after i unscrewed it all the way, and when i pulled the brass ring, the whole thing came out.

as you can see in the picture below, the inner bore of the top tube may be a bit too tight for the brass ring

MlOtPK2.jpg

when i put put it all back together, i noticed it wasnt making a connection and i thought it mightve been the coil heads, and after going through a few new ones, noticed the brass ring wasn't going all the way in to make a connection with the top tube, so i removed the rubber ring from the brass ring and wa-la! so maybe the inner bore of the top tube needs to be a bit wider.

anyway, i think this is enough for the first night and i will continue to update as much as i can

Your o-ring is much thicker than any I have seen on the brass screw, have you replaced it? If not, DD must be using a much thicker one now. Always thought they should be, guess maybe he has done that. And that is the frustrating part about modding stuff, there are so many revisions of the manufacturers device. Haha, our first revs didn't even have a cutout for the newer brass screw, I had to drill mine.

Even compared to the pics on his web site, the o-ring just barely does elapse the diameter of the brass.

Yep that's them. I think an envelop and stamp should work to send you some. So light and all.

They are already ordered. I'll post when they arrive here.

Thick stuff in plain envelopes doesn't tend to make it through the USPS these days, they process the envelopes through some new kind of scanner that tends to tear them to pieces. Suggest a small padded envelope - costs about twice normal First Class stamp.

Yes I used a 8.4mm drill bit for the upper tube recess. The new dimension are 8.5mm, might have think about going to 8.6mm.
How was the Zombie sweat? :)
Muted flavor is typical for a stock head, I have one word... Cotton

We brainstormed last night and have come up with a solution for an air control on the SABOT-DDD, so the future version will have the ability to tailor the draw to suit you personal type. We also changed the upper tube design and collar ring. I will be posting pics of those changes when I get the parts made. I made a prototype of one last night. Just not polished enough to show :) But it works very well!

Thanks for the update, any other ideas or revelations please post, good or bad.

I agree with you on the airflow. We chatted about that at length yesterday, and as DJ stated, you're in for a treat.

I also agree with you on the flavor on a stock head. It's on par - maybe slightly better - than an Aspire head.

But I implore you to build a proper micro coil with some 30AWG Kanthal and cotton wick. It's a night and day difference in flavor/vapor. You may have to tinker a bit to get just the right amount of cotton in there. :)

update numero dos!

first, i never changed the rubber ring so its the rubber ring that came with the brass ring. and since it fits with the billetbridge without a problem, i think itd be better if the inner bore's a bit wider. but so far, no leaking problems and its been working great.

second, i never liked silica so i tried "rebuilding" the coil head with cotton but.. i cant seem to get the right amount of cotton in it and i kept having flooding issues :/ (picture below), so instead i used cheesecloth and its perfect (picture below) (i used unbleached 100% cotton for those who are wondering)

BUT i just changed the wick and havent actually "rebuilt" the coils so im gonna try that tonight or tomorrow and let you guys know

flavor wise, im still not getting the desired flavors from it.. so.. im gonna tinker with it a bit more.. updates TO BE CONTINUED!

How about trying something like biowick? It's just organic untreated cotton wick, but I really like the results I get with it when I use it on Kayfun style attys, etc. Just a thought...

i.. had no idea these things existed, and i probably wont be able to get it before my week's up, so i'll have others after me to test these out. thanks tho!
