Yes I always by protected when I'm dealing with Li-On and Poly's.
Guess I'll chalk it up to the learning curve...

Well normally the numbers on a battery are the size in mm

The first being its diameter,
The second its length.
The fifth is the cell.

For example: an 18340 battery is 18mm in diameter with a length of 34mm. 0 = round get it :)

Are all batteries created equal? No! batteries are not created equal!

And even batteries from the same manufacturer often differ from one another due to Poor or NO quality control.

Rule of thumb if it's man made or in China's case, Child made, it can be screwed up.:(

Question for the BB Heads... I take it all 16340 batteries are not the same?
I bought 4 AW's and they fit fine..
I just got a load of Efest 16340's and they are too big? they will not fit in the unit..
Am I supposed to just buy the AW's??
Just wondering.. I figured a 16340 is a 16340..

I also bought some of this for lubing my BB... did not want nasty stuff in my BB so I made sure I purchase some food grade lube
it is made for lunchmeat slicers:

Don't know where you bought them from, but I have been using AW 16340 and eFest 16340 both protected (black/silver AW, black/gold eFest) button top and both fit without an issue. They are a tight fit, but they fit. I have quit recommended the eFest protected due to poor quality control and having issues with the protection activating too soon. But other than that, no fit issues. I buy from RTD Vapor.

Thanks Drunk_J .. I can force them in.. they are very tight.. but then I can't really slide the cover on..
Chalk it up to doing a bulk buy from a vendor I don't do much business with.. (And won't continue to!)
Thanks!

Sounds like the batteries are rewrapped. Since you can't return them try peeling the outermost wrapper off of one of them. That might work.

Yeah, the bottom one is always really tight for me. Are you sure it is hitting the bottom of the case (or back)? That happens to me all the time and it is because I didn't quite get it all the way in. FYI, it will loosen up with use. And to get them out, you need to use the smack the BB over the palm of your hand technique and do not pry them out (it will damage the insulating cover on batteries). Trust me, have been where you are. Give it another go and see if you cannot smash them in a tiny bit more.

Ok.. I was not easy but forced them in there.. they are working.. I had to push a little to get them down in the well..
I'll see how they do..
Thanks for the advice!!!
I appreciate all the comments.. it really helps me out!

Rewrapped, does that mean Refurbished?

Rewrapped just means someone else makes the battery and the company slaps their wrapper on top. Lots of batteries are rewrapped. Of course that can mean they didn't quite meet the specs of the original manufacturer. Not necessarily but it can mean that.

How about this?

I bought a new tip, but the pipe stem draws especially nice against the box. Yep, still happy. :)

The absolute easiest thing you can do is go here: AW icr 123 16340 protected battery - Batteries

They cost $6.37 each. RTD is a reputable company who most of us on ECF buy batteries from. this is exactly the battery recommended by Doug Dino, and they work and fit perfectly, because the mod was designed to use them.

4 of them cost you less than $30 and you can use them for a very very very long time. Plus, with more people buying them from the same site, the batteries are fresher than getting them 'on sale' from a site that can't move em for 2 years and you have bad battery life.

Trying to save money on batteries is like trying to save money by buying wilted lettuce. There's a REASON that lettuce is cheaper, and you don't want to buy bulk because batteries lose life from storage without even using em.

You might save $4 or $2 and spend $30 more in 6 months. Penny wise, dollar foolish. Buy the RTD batteries:p.
