Well, my new friends I fear I must claim ignorance. My main mod for years has been a REO so I know nothing at all about this new carto world. I just got the message that my BB is in the mail so I need to start purchasing the accessories which will make this baby hum once I get her in my hot little hands. I know the world of cartos is a wide one but are there any which folks suggest I start with? I am use to using a built coil hitting about 1.3 ohms. I have done research but I trust other owners and users of the BB rather than just general information on them. If that makes sense. Thank you in advance.

Many different opinions here, but mine are (in order of preference):

- Slotted cartos (IKV first choice, Boge a close second)
- Billet Bridge (Aspire BDC/BVC heads, NOT Nautilus heads)
- Sabot (smok ARO heads)

OK rebuilders, your turn ;-)

I like them all though, to be clear.

I like the cartos and the Sabot. Never had much luck with Aspire heads in the Billet Bridge or anything else as they seem to be very inconsistent for me.

The Sabot with rebuilding my own Aro coils give me the best vape in the Billet Box and I use it daily. My better half prefers cartos in her Billet Box.

What this means is that everyone likes what they like and you'll have to find what works best for you.

I haven't been able to hit IKV for slotted cartos yet. They're always OOS, but I check there often. They're also supposed to be working on a no-fill carto for the BB. They sound very interesting to me. For now it's Boge slotted for me because they're pretty much hassle free.

I've tried the billet bridge with limited success. For me, they give a lot of dry hits and if I punch extra hole or 2, the tend to leak all over the inside. This is just me, some people have great success with them.

I'd really like to get my hands on a sabot DDD and try that. I've heard nothing but good things about them.

I have rough 1 cubic yard of unopened cartos of various makes, models, etc and I love my Sabot-DDD even more with the air control ring taken off completely. I may never need another carto and I have way too many - growing pains of vaping.

Perhaps not, Peter, but hang on to a few...... just in case.

There's such a thing as too many kartos? Yeah no. :vapor:

Agreed agree. I learned everything I know from the DPL.

Or something like that. ;)

If I were to do it all over again, I would do it precisely the way I did. I would start with a good ol' Boge or an Ikenvape (when available) pre-punched or DIY version. If those don't feed for you, I would try the slots (my all time fave in the B Box).

The B Bridge is a fine alternative and a great option, as is the Sabooooooo.

wongness, the Sabot is lovely and not without minor challenges, much like anything we use. I'm not sure about IKV doing a public offering of a no-fill carto for the BB. I experimented with some and for me, it's rather a LOUD no. Leak city. If you do find some, I sincerely hope they work out well for you.

To us our own. :)

Happy end of the long weekend, everyone. Hope you enjoyed yours 1/17 as much as I did. :D

Right. "...something like that."

Keeping in mind that the BB was built as a carto-tank, it warrants repeating that cartos (kartos?) are what works with the most consistency - at least for me. And I happen to like kartos, so...

Like Kat, both the Bridge and Sabot were prone to leakage, particularly if the tank ran down much more than halfway. Big D explained this, way back in this thread, having something to do with the vacuum effect. But when they work, both work pretty well.

And since it came up, yes, scrap the fillerless Nitro idea. IF they came in the 35mm size, they might work well. I still have one that's been going for months, and is working great. But it was cut down manually, and still has the flange on it (which makes for a TIGHT fit and all the potential problems associated with such a fit).

Based on Drunk_J and Kat's experiences, I'm confident saying that once you remove the flange, it's NOTHING but trouble.

King IKV has made it clear that it's highly unlikely we'll see 35mm stock ones anytime in the near future. Therefore I've put the idea to bed. It should be noted that they use the same ARO heads as the Sabot (correct, J?) so the vaping experience is similar anyway.

And with that, I leave you...

Kartos Kids Rule! :D

Speaking of "kids" - hearts & minds...

We're waiting on some of those too, 67. And thank YOU for that lead!!!

Back to Snake. SINCE you brought it up, I believe our resident Darling might have had a conflicting, and somewhat harrowing, experience with one of her rebuilt Saboooo coils. It did something I don't think anyone's ever seen before. And if they had, they certainly hadn't reported it anywhere.

I don't want to steal any more of her story. I'll leave it for her to finish, when she's able to. Besides, I have to get my fanny to work.

Ah, the suspense... :D

I am still using a sophia, with a short body in mine with no problems at all, no leaking, no dry hits at all. The only thing I changed is, now I open the juice control up until the tank will barely fit in the bb, and I put scotch tape over 2 of the air holes on the bb. here is a pic of the sophia next to a carto. :)

Not all my juice was happy with regular cartos. Some tasted funky, and some just clogged them up so fast it wasn't funny. Two days for a carto is not my idea of fun. :(

I did manage to find some fillerless cartos, they were made for the Raven. Sadly, I think they've been discontinued. They worked pretty well, no leaking and decent flavor.

But now I'm using the Sabot, which is awesome! It doesn't seem to have a clogging problem, and I've been able to use pretty much any of my favorite juices with no change in flavor.

Hey kas-
Can you help a new guy and tell me what this? Is it a carto?

Thanks!

p.s. Caution when Googling "sophia, with a short body" hehe

This is a lot like the Diver, to get it this way you have to order all the pcs by them selves. More info here.

Links to the site Here.

ΣΟΦΙΑ base

ΣΟΦΙΑ short upper body ( 25mm )

Ceramic-Coil

I have been using these in carto tanks for 9 months now they work great, a good choice when you cant seem to get a diver in stock anywhere.

Oh, pieces and parts! Starting to make sense. I'll read thru the Leo thread. Thanks man! Appreciate the links and help.

Kinda funny, my forum name is from a 1967 Telecaster, designed and made by Leo Fender. He left Fender eventually and went into partnership making GBL guitars...Guitars By Leo.

The sophia was designed for use in a carto tank, and in order to get it to work in the BB, you have to get in this way, or it will be to long. The By Leo thread is a big thread to read, just ask Billie any questions you may have. There are others there that know a lot more then me.
