I just finally upgraded from the embarrassing ego pens to a sigelei 150w with a uwell crown tank. First day it went great, second day not so much. I've tried looking around online for answers, and I'm still lost. I hear a crackling sound, some say it's normal, some say it will go away once you break in the coil, others say it's due to flooding the coil. I have done the whole blowing out the excess e-juice from the coil it's self and no real change. Once in a while it will gurgle and do a spit back of hot ... juice, and that's not really pleasant. I've also noticed some leakage from the tanks air holes, so I suspect a flooded coil.

What sounds should a healthy boxmod and tank make?
Should I completely clean out my coil, or just replace it?
Maybe it's the type of e-juice I'm using? (sweet melon)
Will closing the air holes while not in use benefit me in anyway?

Hey there!
I had my crown in rotation with a few other tanks for a while, I cant say I really noticed any crackling but the damn juice coming through the airflow drove me insane! I think it's an issue with the top fill because as soon as I started bottom filling the leaking stopped. Keeping the tank stored with the airflow closed cased me even more problems, juice built up behind the airflow ring and it got messy!
I also wonder what your VG/PG ratio is, I vape high VG, normally 80% and the crown seems to cope well with that. Maybe if your using a relatively high pg juice the tank could be flooding?
I'm a far cry from an expert so maybe some of the more experienced folk could chime in with this one?
Incidentally, a healthy box mod should make no sound at all ;)

I've been using my Crown with the 0.25 coil for about two weeks now, with no problems. It does occassionally have a crackling sound, sometimes relatively silent. Try adjusting the airflow to see if you get better results. I have mine nearly closed off, and I like an open airy draw. I close the airflow entirely when top filling, per instructions.

Also try a gentler, slower draw. Pulling too hard may flood the coil. My :2c:

I love those crackles ... Little mini explosions of flavor!

They're caused by a tiny air pocket, usually between wick & coil, that get superheated. Usually a sign you need more wick (if you're building your own).

Flooding, on the other hand, is nasty .... Sucking up juice, or juice leaking everywhere. This is usually an incorrect build, often again incorrect wicking.

Right now I hear crackling when I'm vaping my juice at 125 watts using a box mod and one of my crown tanks with a higher pg content liquid. This is normal on higher wattages. Also the crown pre-built coils and wick are a bit different than a rda. The crown uses layered cotton squares and fairly thin wire in their coils I've found. But, they can stand up to some use and not need replacing that quickly compared to other tanks. My tfv4 crackles more than my crown.

There's always a little bit of noise from a vaporizer you can even sometimes hear a mini electrical squeal from the device if you put your ear near the drip tip opening.
