Hello everyone,

I just wanted to tell you that I ordered an Alpha Ultra a couple of days ago and since this is my first performance device I am quite excited.

I have went through a lot of devices during the past 2 years, starting with an M401 Intellicig which was amazing, but I kept flooding my auto batteries (no manual option at that time). Then I got a standard 510 which literally blew me away until I got sick of fiddling with cartridges, filler mods and all that stuff. Since then I am happily dripping on a Riva 510 which was the first device that was able to put me off tobacco cigarettes.

And a month or so ago I felt the need for an upgrade again when I realised my Riva batteries will not last much longer after so many recharge cycles.

After quite a lot of research I came to the conclusion the Alpha range would suit my needs best, hopefully I shall see if I was right in a week or so. Now I am refreshing the USPS Track an Confirm page like a mad man :mail:

Congratulations on your purchase. I am sure you will find the Ultra to be a much better and practical device than the Riva. Just remember that they take a minute to figure out completely. There is a ton of great info here on the InnoVapor e-cig forum page. And if there is something that you are having trouble with and can't seem to find the answer, just let me know and I'll figure it out for you. Again congratulations and welcome to the family! We look forward to your opinions on the Ultra.

Well, what do you know - I might have pulled the Devil's tail. Not even a full day after I posted here one of my Riva batteries died and only my quick reflexes saved my favourite Cisco 306 and prevented a small house fire because the battery kept supplying current to the atomizer without the button being pressed! I knew my feeling that it's time for something better wasn't lying to me :)

Thats awesome. And you couldn't have picked a better device to switch it up with.

a similar near disaster happened to me in July. Did your button light remain on when this happened? It did in my case and I was fast enough in unscrewing the atom from the battery. I was mainly worried about the risks of a small explosion, honestly.

Actually the button light is off and the battery is working but is in constant switched on state, I can even use it by unscrewing the atomizer half turn or so to cut power. I would also guess the protection circuit will switch off the battery cell before a rapid disassembly occurs, but still the problem remains with the increasingly hot atomizer in such scenario.

Anyway with all that said I am happy such things are highly unlikely to be a problem with an Alpha with its fully mechanical switch.

Yep thats impossible with the Alphas. The spring is constantly pushing the battery away from the atomizer and contact, so only when you slide the swtich all the way up does it activate. And the way the slide works, its practically impossible for it to activate in a pocket or bag, so there is no activation when you dont want it. So no more burning up attys in your pocket. :)
