How could I ever be hesitant about telling anyone that I kicked a 45+ yr addiction and am now not only smoke free but nicotine free! Pardon me but I am pretty proud of that! The more people that stand up and tell their positive stories about vapeing the faster this could be accepted by the mainstream. IMHO. I would have loved to quit "cold turkey" but that just was not an option for me and I want to let other people know there is a pain free option that not only worked for me but many more like me!
I will get off my soapbox now........

I posted. Tried to keep it short, but here's what I wrote:

I smoked for 21 years, from the age of 17. I tried quitting numerous times, using the gum, the little plastic inhalers, even cold turkey at a time when I had a terrible cold and couldn't inhale smoke without coughing for a week straight, thinking a week off nicotine should make it simple. But it wasn't, not by a longshot. It wasn't the nicotine that was the problem. It was the ritual, the hand-to-mouth, all of the many triggers that made me want a cigarette, made my brain more than my body dependent upon tobacco.

But then I was told about electronic cigarettes. I'd never heard of them before, but I researched them for a good week. The idea intrigued me, and I decided to take the plunge and buy a small kit plus some e-liquid to try. Once I got it and tried it out, I was absolutely floored about how well it worked. But even more shocking to me was that I neither needed a cigarette nor even wanted a cigarette. The electronic cigarette satisfied my need for nicotine, but more importantly my brain's need for the ritual. Patches, gums, inhalers, none of them treat the total addiction of cigarettes beyond the dispensing of nicotine. Electronic cigarettes addressed everything, and did so with astonishing effectiveness.

I have been smoke-free for a year, and I don't remember when my health has ever been better, nor when I've ever felt better. I have even been reducing my nicotine levels, now at half of what I used to consume, and am amazed at how easy it is to do so without suffering any cravings or any significant withdrawal symptoms.

I am thankful that I discovered E-cigarettes. They very probably saved my life. They most definitely saved my bank balance.

I hope they at least make a passing mention of them.

I just posted my story. Here's my brief rundown... 6 months ago I was at Stage 3 Emphysema with 42% lung capacity. I have been smoke free for almost 3 weeks now. I went to my cardio-pulmonologist today and am at 72% lung capacity already. My doctor feels it is in direct relation to the e-cig. And she believes that within 6 months I should be off my daily maintenance medications entirely.

She even wants me to get ECF business cards for her office so she and her colleague can pass them out to smokers!

That's fantastic. I didn't have any disease from cigarettes(yet). But I can understand a little, I can actually breath again! Congratulations and keep us up to date on your condition and smoke free journey.

Actually the doctors have been somewhat of an advocate for pv's so far, it may not be a bad idea to try and get more good info out there.

This is not true I saw them on tv the other day saying that there was antifreeze in the juice and saying that they were very bad , this was a couple weeks ago when they were talking about all the bad stuff in our foods ecigs came up and nothing they said was supportive at all ... Enjoy ur antifreeze every one lol

Doubtful, just shoddy research, yet again. People still quote that misinforming FDA study. Hell it was likely the cause of Health Canada's stance on the matter, and they haven't progressed at all.

Seems to me regular citizens on internet forums do a better job of disseminating information than any major news organization does (or Dr. "reality" shows).
