So after almost 7 months of vaping, and 6 of those months spent rebuilding and using a MVP, I finnaly have a mech on the way. This is probably the biggest order I've placed so far and im ridiculously stoked!
1. hcigar Stingray X from vaperoyalty.
2. 3 Sony vtc5s from vapordna.
3. A nightcore D2 charger, 18650 battery case, and delrin drip tip from 101vape.
4. And finnaly 100ft a-1 kanthal 28g, 50ft a-1 kanthal 26g (24g had a 9 week wait), and 25ft a-1 kanthal flat ribbon I believe was .8-.1 (drawing a blank atm) from Temco.
I can't even explain how excited I am to get this stuff! I'm so glad to finnaly be getting out of the realms of 'Hey, you can't go lower than this' and 'Dual coil? Haha, naaaaah'.

to you AveryW. I have been vaping for over a year and I haven't tried the lower Ω's yet but I have read enough about battery safety from people on ecf. It is wonderful to have a place to get good information. Just be careful and enjoy vaping. Look forward to reading about your awesome clouds. :D

I didn't see an ohm meter on that list. Can the MVP read below its low ohm firing threshold? If it can you're all set, if not I would recommend a meter. Remember there is no protection circuit of any kind, so if there is a short it's better to find out before you hit the button.
Haha, yes the MVP can, plus I have a multimeter, and a 510/ego ohm reader as well. Trust me when I say, I'm prepared and have done my home work. 6 months of rebuilding has lead to a lot of purchases and reading.

Excellent! You will enjoy and discover a lot of flavor that was hiding from you in the past.

Just my opinion but I don't think loads of flavor has to do with building lower ohm coils, or even dual. You could have a crap RBA, RDA or whatever & build dual sub ohm coils & a good RDA at 1.3 could have better flavor.. Definitely more clouds from lower coils & mech mod. Unless I'm missing something completely?

What do intend to put on top of all this?

Right now I have my kfl+ v2 clone, an igow, and an igow3. I'm planning on getting another RDA when money allows.

Cool.... Assuming you know how to build the coils.... I'd suggest a coil of about 0.6 ohms should get a great vape.

What atomizers are you planning on using all this vape gear on?

second, you might want to try Lightning Vapes... They've been my supply for kanthal for a while, and they've always had good prices and good customer service. Also, they say they have 24 gauge kanthal in stock. :) Items arrive within 4 days from my experience.

So, what coils are you going to build first? I'd say start with dual micro coils at .8 ohms each and use organic cotton. See how that one vapes... :)

I'll have to check that out when I get home from work for sure. I know my first build is going to be a dual micro coil, havnt decided on the resistance yet. I'll probably go between .6-.8. And for the toppers, check my post above.

That's what I used to think. Let me preface by saying that I'm an old guy and usually build single coils in the 1.3 range, and definitely not a cloud chaser. When you tie a couple of those together you vaporizer twice the liquid, and potentially get almost twice the flavor. Key is the right combination of build, juice, and airflow.

just keep in mind, the resistance is halved for the total ohms for a battery. So, two .8Ω coils is a .4Ω build. .4 is a good safe number that draws 10 amps... well below the 35 amp limit of your battery. You'll probably want to use the lowest gauge kanthal you can get, since a higher gauge would make for an awfully small coil.

Now, I went the whole route on my vape journey... cigalikes, egos, VV/VW, then mech mods. I don't sub-ohm all the time. I still prefer a single coil on a VV/VW device for my daily vape, or a moderately built coil for a durable mechanical. Yes, I run two 1.6Ω coils as a daily vape. using 32 gauge kanthal. Not a popular build, but still, 10ish watts running through 32 gauge seems to be my sweet spot for a daily vape.

I looked and all they had was 16g kanthal and 20g nichrome. I've never used nichrome, read it makes some people sick/has an off taste, never really wanted to mess with it. Plus 16g seems like something for low low sub ohm builds, which I definitely don't feel ready for just yet. Would it take a lot of wraps with 16g to hit .6 or so? I know it would depend on size of wrapping tool also, but generally speaking.
