The hell did I do wrong?

So I built a 1 ohm coil on a kayfun 3.1 es, and threw it on my mod at 10 watts. Everything was going great when all of a sudden I was vaping scorch. I freaked out thinking my cotton was dry so I looked and the tank was full.

What the hell happened? Did I over heat the coil or something? I stopped hitting it for a bit and it went back to normal but a few frequent capes letter the scorch came back.

So what the hell am I doing wrong?

You might try a bit less cotton. If there is too much in the coil it can interfere with wicking.

I would think you have a wicking problem so not enough juice is getting to your coil. If you vape now and again it will seem OK but 2 or 3 in a row it will run dry.

Yep, too much cotton. by the time you take it apart to look at the wicks, they will be wet. Pulling it apart allows enough juice in to soak them, giving the impression that you have adequate wicking. But you don't. Less is more when it comes to cotton in a kayfun. Slightly snug in the coil and just enough tail to touch the deck....make sure you're not blocking the juice channels.

You should be able to just pull it out of the coil. If you can't pull it out without the coil moving you're using way too much cotton.

I'd suggest you pull it all out and start over. After you take the cotton out, dry burn the coil (pulse fire) to get all of the gunk off, then take a very thin piece of cotton and run it through the coil. You should be able to slide it back and forth with just a little resistance.

And make sure it's not to long. It should just extend down to the deck. It can't extend into the juice channels.

I had the same issue when I bought my first Kayfun. It was a big step from Nautilus (which I broke) and building and wicking was something new.
Make sure the wick is not to long but not to short either so it can reach the juice and absorb it. I wick very thick also and I like it. The 1 ohm is a good build for me. When you first build a new coil don't forget to prime the cotton before screwing the chimney so at the first hit of the button the cotton won't be dry. Then after everything is wrapped up I let it for a minute to let the juice to reach the holes on the bottom and such.
I like to suck on the thing until it becomes hot. No kiddin and don't blame me coz I love vaping more than I ever loved smokin.

Between Nautilus and Kayfun there is nothing to compare. Kayfun kick ..... big time.

Once apart to rewick, just snip the wick close to the coil on one side (careful to not cut the coil!) and pull out the other side.

Thanks for the photos turns out when I gave the cotton a haircut it left small strands blocking the channels. A quick snip and it did the trick.

I might not have a single thing to do with your wick. If you over fill a kayfun it gets locked up and won't wick properly. If you didn't over fill, then check wick.
