I had a wonderful teacher in the 6th grade, Mrs Conners, she was my older brother and younger brother and sister's teacher also, she left a great impression on all of us, she was such a good and kind person, but I have to say my mom is my true mentor, I alway say if I could be like anybody in the world it would be my mother and my husband agrees, he said he has the greatest mother inlaw any man could ask for.

I had an English teacher who was really great! My parents were going through a divorce and I seemed to be upset all the time..anything would set me off. She assigned the class to read "In Cold Blood". I knew I couldn't read it without becoming depressed and dreaming about it. She and I worked out a deal where i could read one of the Dune books..I read 3 of them and turned in detailed book reports. her guidance and kindness really hepled me out.
I don't think adults understand what kind of impact they have on young people..she will always be dear to me.

Putting up the nativity display, as a child I loved that part or Christmas the most, I even had the nativity display we had when I was small but lost it in a house fire we had 15 years ago, I now have about 14 of them, all shapes and size's, even one from mexico, I put them in just about evey room in the house and I hate when I have to take them down in Jan. Also the big family gathering for turkey dinner on Christmas day.

Both my parents were amazing cooks. Each in their unique ways. Dads two best dishes were Chili and a concoction we called "poor mouth stew" He has a fondness for fresh hot Chilis. The only way to know if a dish was intolerably hot was to watch his brow after he took a bite. If Dad was sweating? Just eat the bread.

My mom bakes really well. My favorite of her recipes are spiced carrot zucchini bread and poppyseed cake.

My mom made the best spaghetty, and potato salad, while I can make the potato salad like her's, after 50 years I still can't seem to make the spaghetty like she did. Also because my folks were from holland, for breakfest some time's we would have bacon grease and dark karro syrup mixed together poured over bread with bacon on the side, sounds yucky but it was delicious, it's a dutch treat and since my husband is dutch also I made it for our family when the kids were small, now it's to fattening. BOO HOO

I have to honestly say marrying my wonderful hubby is the best thing I'v ever done for myself, we're going to have our 50th this Jan, we have such great kids and loving families on both side's, mine and his. Of course there were some bad time's but the good time's out weigh them by a mile. Can't imagine life without him. O and I did give up analogs for e-cigs, almost forgot about that. LOL.

I'll go with this but it's been 40 years.

Other than that, I'd say taking up exercising. I walk everyday (because I have to walk the dog---twice a day) and (in the cold months) go to an Athletic Club for the pool exercise classes three times a week. I get there early and jog in the water for 10/15 minutes and then do the first class. Once the class is over, I swim laps and then go through forty minutes of another class.
In the summer, I use our pool. I jog for at least twenty minutes and then do other pool exercises. Switching to vaping has made this easier.:)

The best thing I did for me besides marrying Mike was to rejoin the human race. I had let myself become isolated from "real" flesh and blood people, not making any effort to socialize. Mike keep trying to get me to join stuff or go down to Tamap..but I just refused. In 2004 I decided to get out and haven't looked back!

The music that gets me centered is tribal. for relaxation something like Joss Stone. For housework , Ozzy, Aerosmith, Nazareth etc. For exercise techno. Hanging with friends barbecues what not , classic rock or even some Kid Rock(endless summer is great) Can you tell I like allot of different music?

I'm with Chiqa on the tribal, amd brainwave arrangments,, just reach down deep not only for me but for the animals as well... funny to see all the geese come into the barn from outside and gather around the lap top sitting on the chest freezer playing a brainwave arrangements...
