Hi ECF!
First let me say thanks for being here. You made sticking my toes into this thing a lot less scary.
A little about me.
I am 46 I have been smoking since I was 13. I have quit for short periods several times over the years but it never stuck. So now I start this newest attempt.
This began because I went to a trade show where they happened to be giving out free e cigarette samples. The kind that look like real cigarettes (forgive my ignorance of all the terms). Anyway I got this free sample and brought it home and tried it out. I didnt really like it but it was ok. It sat on my desk for a couple of months and every now and then i would take a drag on it and think "You know there has to be one of these out there that's really good..."
Anyway I finally jumped on the net and started looking into these e-cig thingies. I looked at review sites and they all seemed to be a big advertisement for one brand or another.
Finally I landed here.
I think that was a good thing
So heres how it went. I spent two days pouring over posts here and discovered that the little cigarette shaped devices were a decent jumping in point but it seemed people outgrew them very quickly. To make a long story short I decided to skip them and jump straight into vaping. It just happens there are two shops that I am aware of here in Vegas that sell vaping equipment and juice. So I went down to the one closest to me and picked up an EGO kit. This seemed to be pretty highly recommended as a jumping in device here so I went with it.
It is all so confusing LOL

The experience when I picked it up was a little on the bizarre side. I walked in and here are these folks sitting around sucking on these tube thingies and blowing out these clouds of smoke ...no drinks no music just people sitting around smoking these tubes. Like I walked into some weird star wars set.
They had an ego kit but no twists But I figure lets just get startede we can get different equipment later if needed. so I picked up the kit for $80 which came with a bottle of juice. I was allowed to pick a juice, they had two tobacco juices, one I didnt like at all but the other was...OK.
Now I knew the $80 was high after reading on here but I figured I could have it right now and the instant gratification thing trumped my dollar sense and off I went on my merry way.
I got home with my new toys and got it set up and started to vape for my first real time in the privacy of my own homeI dont know why but I feel sort of strange about doing it.
The first night was not bad but it wasn't great. The juice was close enough to tobacco that I could pretend it was satisfying but it left a very bad after taste. My wife asked my what I thought of it and I told her "I can probably do this"
She has been trying to get me to quit smoking for a couple years now.
I wasn't convinced by any means but I had read enough here to know that different people like different juices and some are better than others anyway.
So there's another shop in town as well but its clear on the other side of town.
I spent the next day trying to convince myself this was going to work for me despite the fact that I wasnt really enjoying it.
Day three my work took me to the side of town so I stopped in to see about the other vender. The first one kind of gave me the creeps anyway so I was hoping this one might be a better experience.
Well God must be smiling on me cause it turns out the other vender is Pink Spot Vapors.
Now I am just a week into this and I have a lot to learn I know but when I walked into Pink spot it was a whole different experience. It was bright and inviting with fruits and deserts displayed all over it just felt good.
When I walked in they greeted me and got started helping me out. They had a sampler list that you were welcome to try out as many of as you liked so I jumped right in.
I had looked at their website and read descriptions of their flavors and they had a lot of flavors but one that caught my eye was a flavor called swagger, and it was on their sampler list so I asked to try that first.
Well from the first puff I knew this thing was going to work out just perfectly! The swagger wasn't something I had to try to talk myself into it was freaking amazing! Like OMG amazing! Who needs cigs this stuff is awesome amazing!

So right away I decided I would get a sampler pack and proceeded to sample my way through their list to try to find 6 flavors I liked to fill the sampler. I have to say out of the 15 or so juices i tried there were so many delicious ones I had a hard time narrowing it down to 6.
This couldn't have gone better and gave me an opportunity right away to try things I probably wouldn't have otherwise tried for months, they have a flavor called riptide that is a blend of berries with a touch of menthol that is just lovely but not something I would have ever thought I would have liked to smoke..er vape. It instantly opened my eyes to how awesome this could possibly be not as a way to quit less painfully but as an alternative that is not only more healthy but in my opinion so much more enjoyable!
So here I am it is now day 5 since I bought the first EGO kit I haven't had any cigs at all for two days and I have a pack open and sitting in my car
I am hooked! I doubt I will go back to cigs ever my wife is thrilled and I am already telling my friends that smoke what I have discovered!
Today my throat is dry but i have read here that that is normal and that it goes away. So i am looking forward to that going away and being able to breathe again.
My next steps i think will be to figure out a way to easily try different flavors , My father is a smoker and he tried but didn't like the swagger but I would kill to be able to find him something he liked he wants it to taste like a cigarette or he wont consider it and the swagger was too sweet for him. My mother in law however was right on board from the first taste of the swagger so I will be making a run this week back to pink spot.
Any way this has gone way smother than I anticipated it going in large part thanks to this site and also in being so lucky as to live in a town with what seems to me an incredible juice maker. I am looking forward to all of the fun mods and tasting of new flavors going forward.
