I've been vaping for some time now and I've seen quite a few fads in and out these couple of years. Late last year I saw The Rocket on FT and shortly afterwards the first 3.1 clone FT carried. I don't know who made it, it has the three holes and gives me no hassle to build, no leakage whatsoever, great build even for a veteran.

But to be true, the more builds, the less I like it. Sure, it's easy to build, but the flavor and the vapor doesn't rival any of my Vapeonly BCC or iClear 30. In the rebuildable arena, the Oddy/Terminator RBA are more difficult but a much more satisfying vape when you finally get the hang of it.

I see every day on this forum recommendations for builds, cotton, silica and even ceramic (I still have some from the Genesis fad). I've built more coils into that kayfun than I've ever built for my other rebuildables combined. Still, I'm searching for that great vape you all talk about.

Maybe it's time to plunge some decent money into an original Kayfun, maybe not. Are you all as satisfied?

This all reminds me of the Genesis... :p

Flavor being the subjective perception it is and will continue to be...

I've been moving away from the KF design ... preferring instead, the Gus Estia, GP Heron, Taifun GT, Fogger and oddly, the Highwinds Ruzgar, which is an evolution of the KF design, but has better flavor (IMO) than KFL+ or R91%.

To be honest, with the great RDAs out now... in particular the Faceless Varitas, I don't pick up RTAs as often as I once did, although the Estia is about as close as you can get to a good dripper... again, IMO. ;-)

I wouldn't buy an actual Kayfun at this point. The KF/L is eclipsed by newer derivatives (Fogger, Rose, Erlkonigin) but the design doesn't leave much room for innovation. Small variations will arise, such as top-filling, larger deck etc but the vape will remain very much the same.

If the KF/L were perfect, manufacturers would only build that. It's more like the F150 of the RBA world. It does the job but it's kind of basic and it has that whining power steering pump.

One out of a dozen or so builds have a good taste with the Kaylite unless you have extreme dexterity. The Kaylite is a relic, with the advent of the Aerotank there is no need for the Kaylite IMHO. I wasted hours of my life trying to build a good Kaylite, I think I got two good builds. What a waste of time and energy. Almost all the builds tasted like burn cotton or rayon. My time is too valuable to waste time on those KLF dinosaurs.

Now DIY ejuice and Nets is another story, I can justify the cost of the aerotank coils with the savings on e-juice.

Can't make a decent build... Blames the equipment.... LOL

The equipment must be fine for a percentage of the population, but some people can't make a decent build, so we agree? Good engineering means it is doeable by everyone. I understand that isn't always possible. I ordered premade coils from fastech and hope that will help, but my arthritis is holding me back with the Kaylite and the aerotank ain't bad.

Maybe not a microcoil? I fail miserably at them, my hubby (a fisherman) does them for me for the Fogger. I simply take 3 turns of 32 ga Kanthal on a 3 row of silica (no organic cotton here, dangerous to vape). That takes the build to around 1.6 ohms and it's not so difficult to make.

If your Kayfun cant compete with an iClear30 or any clearomizer for that matter (yes, even the Nautilus or new Kangers) then your build probably needs some work.

That's the issue, the build is so difficult for a significant proportion of the population that it could be considered a design flaw. I have had good and bad builds no rhime or reason as to why some turn out wonderful and other are cotton burners.

Well, I use both a Kanger Aerotank and an authentic Kayfun Lite-Plus v2

Just my opinion, but the Kayfun is a superior atomizer to the Aerotank .... Nothing wrong with the Aerotank, but the Kayfun (at least an authentic Kayfun) has a better vape quality.

I find it almost impossible to do a build that performs poorly. I find it an extremely easy device to build on. That being said, I have a good friend that finds it impossible to do a good one. For him, it is always a wicking issue....he generally has this issue with other tanks he has tried too. He does build in an RDA occasionally....and has no problem. I dont get it....but there it is.

I am legally blind, heading towards total blindness, and I think the Hcigar Kayfun 3.1 is awesome. My first couple builds failed miserably, taste was non existent and vapor production poor at best. Now, it takes me half an hour to build a nice tight 1.0 ohm micro coil and wick it with cotton. The flavor beats all of my other tanks including my Nautilus's that now sit sad and alone on my desk. Keep working on your builds, try different APV's, you will find your happy place.

I think no build is harder than the Terminator or Oddy and I've had those vaping right for years. No, the flaw to me has to do with the air flow control, too airy for me, can't take up enough liquid to feed it right.

I felt the same way at first could not really find the right build for my kayfun I tried a lot of them and felt like all most giving up then I stumbled on this video
Kayfun Lite Organic Cotton and Micro Coil Build - YouTube
I followed it step by step and it made all the difference for me
Also a clone and an authentic perform the same with the right build :)

Wow! I love Kayfuns, Russians, Taifun GTs and Foggers. I have iclear 30s and Aerotanks but I've not used them in months! To me, there's no better Vape than that of a Kayfun or Russian. Taifuns and Foggers are top notch too. When I first received a Kayfun it took me 2 build to get it right. After that... Wow! Nothing compared. In all the months I've been building RBAs I've had maybe one bad build where I messed up and had to rebuild. They aren't that difficult. My husband got his first, built his first coil and it was perfect right away. Maybe some people just can't build a coil? But I don't think that's the majority. Most people I've talked to love Kayfuns. You'll see people post here every once in a while that they can't get it built right... But when they do get it right they love it and never turn back.

If its built right you are not going to get a burnt taste unless you are chain vaping like a mad man. I chain Vape 15ml a day, no joke, and I don't get burnt taste.
