If anyone knows of any videos, or data sheets, on the kick where they show o-scope waveforms using the kick under "various" loads, could you please supply a link?

I watched PBusardo's kick review again and he showed only one o-scope waveform with it under load.

I'm curious because the waveform Phil showed was basically flat DC with very acceptable ripple as far as I'm concerned. I couldn't tell what the load was, but to get DC regulated at this level has huge implications in the applications to mechanical mods that can be very appealing, if you think about it. (Limited to 10 watts of course).

From reading a lot of posts here on the forum, a lot of people recommend approximately 7 - 9 watts for comfortable vaping (not applicable to SLR). Also from what I've seen is that the Provari has the best regulation currently out there compared to cheaper APVs... hence the pseudo reference.

If the kick can actually regulate it's DC output this well at loads from about 1.3 to 3 ohms, then it's possible you can get a very decent VW device using a kicked mechanical mod. Very decent!

Of course if the kick regulates like a Vamo... all bets are off!

Update...

Just received an email from Evolv and they stated the Kick, (along with everything else they make), does NOT use PWM, but outputs straight DC across the spectrum.

This is actually very good news. This means that up to the limit of 10 watts, a kick'ed mechanical will run just as smoothly as a Provari in terms of power being applied to the atomizer. It also means that because the kick adjusts voltage out to be constant, the vape out of a mechanical will also be constant, over the usable charge of the battery. No more strong vapes at the beginning and successively weaker vapes as the battery weakens.

Just FYI for anyone interested.

I have a vamoand a kick, but no mech anymore. I sold it for a different one that's being made currently. I miss having a mech cause the kick definately regulates better than the vamo.

This should be the case as indicated by what Evolv has stated. It's a good reason to have a kick for your mech. A little while ago I was going to forgo getting a kick, but I think I will in light of what I've just found out. I also own a Vamo, by the way, and while it does vape well for my needs, my engineering side always likes to mess around!
