Okay... so many helpful people on here, so many questions, and even more answers. I almost can't process it all. (I"ve been lurking and researching for weeks.... bleh)

I understand the analogy that everyone is different. I want simple. I don't care if it looks like a cigarette or not. At home I don't even care if I"m plugged into the wall or USB. Having some portability would be fine, I suppose, but I'm way more function over fashion.

I was going to just go for that Vapor4Life site, but after reading other reviews of other products, I'm thinking that might not be the way to go. Their packages seem to go the "simple approach" though, which I like.

I understand the need for extra batteries, but why the OTHER extra stuff? Extra atomizers? Do these things break that frequently? Or am I missing something? I tried to research 510s, but found so many clones (I'm assuming) that it made me wary of ordering ANYTHING from anyone. Lots of sketchy looking sites out there.

I don't have a ton of money to waste. I would really like to get this right (or close to right) the first time. I understand that everyone has their preferences, but I just want simple. I don't understand the "change your voltage" tuners, nor do I even want to mess with such things. I just want "plug and play." ::grin::

It seems that "too much choice" is bad for me. It isn't like I can try and buy, so I'm hoping that someone out there with similar needs (or lack thereof) will chime in.

Thanks in advance! (And I think there would be WAY more converts if this wasn't so freaking hard! Some of my friends and family gave up after bad experiences with crappy mall kiosks and such). I'm trying to avoid that and hopefully get it right the first time.

I haven't received my device yet, but I have also been lurking for quite a while before I joined and have been doing research.

Atomizers die, yes. Some people report atty's dying in under a week (very rarely) and some people are able to use them for a LONG time (months), however like I said they DO die, and you want to have spares.

Cartridges/cartomizers need replacing as well. You can refill them several times before they are no longer usable, and all the tips for refilling etc. can be found around the forums easily.

Batteries eventually die as well, I believe the eGo (the device I'm getting & the device many forum vet's will likely recommend to a newcomer with your specific needs) is rated for 300 recharges, so you'll probably have each battery work for nearly a year.

E-juice obviously needs replacing since you are vaping it, but you most likely already know that lol.

If you don't go overboard, it works out being a lot cheaper than smoking, and infinitely healthier.

Like I said earlier, I am still a newbie too, but if I was wrong on something someone will be along shortly to correct me so don't worry! LOL

--- This is the kit I ordered, check it out and see if it looks right for you. :-]

Okay, most important, buy from a reputible company. I would suggest one that is on this forum. Look for things like their replacement policies and how long they guarentee their products. A 510 is very popular and you can trust any of the companies here. It really doesn't matter if it is a joye, riva, etc.

Batteries...you need at least two so you can have one to use while one is charging.
Atomizers...you can start with one, but will need another one soon. The atomizer will last for a while (possibly several months), but when it is dead that is it. Most are not covered under warranties because how soon they die is based on how much you vape, and how often you clean.
cartridges...they can be refilled and reused. I like to have several available so I can fill a whole bunch at once, but how many you have is up to you.
cartomizers...some people perfer this over atomizers and cartridges. (you use these in place of both of those). some say it is too expensive because they can not be used forever like the cartridges. some say the vaping experience is not as good with these. some really love them and only use them.
pass through...this will not come with the kit but you might want to buy one. This will allow you to vape through the computer. The advantage of this is that you will use your batteries less, which means charging them less, which means longer life span.

I personally own a Magma from Volcanoecigs. They have fantastic customer service, reward points for buying and referring, and quick shipping. I have also bought extra supplies from several companies. They have prefilled cartridges so you don't have to mess with juices and all until you are ready.

IF you're function over fashion get the Hello with some 510 atomizers. Excellent battery life and you usually can find them at a great price.

You'll want at least one or two extra atomizers to start. As with anything they wear or burn out. Kepping them wet as in using plenty of liquid will make them last longer. If you let them get to try by not filling the liquid enough they can burn out pretty easy. Life expectancy is going to vary with usage among other things. Some report as little as a week and some have been using the same one for several months. If you're trying to keep it simple though you'll probably want to go with cartomizers once you find a liquid you like. They have the cart and automizer in one piece and are refillable to an extent and cheaper than automizers. They hold more liquid so you don't have to fill as much, doesn't get any easier.

Don't worry about the change the adjustable voltage mods right now you don't need to be experimenting with different voltages just now and most don't want to ever, just depends on the person.

There are two types of atomizers, disposable atomizer and refilled atomizer. As for the disposable atomizer, as the name suggests, can be used for one time only; as for the refilled atomizer, you can fill in the e-liquid when needed, and usually one refilled atomizer can last for 2-3 months, over that time you need to buy new atomizer.

I understand you want everything to be as simple as possible, there are really too many types ecigarettes on the market, for the confusion you are suffering, i suggest you choose the disposable atomizer ecigarette, which usually includes two rechargeable batteries and 5 disposable cartomizers, you just need to buy cartomizer again after runing out them, not difficult to deal with it. And you can also think about the whole disposable ecigarette, that is both the battery and cartridge can be used for one time only, but to consider furtherly, this kind ecig cost much money and is a kind of waste.

well, i dont know whether those words can help you or not, i just hope you can find your favorite ecig and enjoy the outstanding feature that ecigarette can bring to you:)

If you're trying to quit just get any 2 piece in your budget. I would definitely recommend the KR808 from V4L. I started with that and now moving on the the Elegant (once my pay clears blah) due to battery life.

This may be a generalization but I feel the 3 piece crowd wants to keep vaping where-as the 2 piece crowd is more apt to quit smoking and vaping.

Yes the 2 piece doesn't fully simulate an analog stick it does get the cravings to a controllable level and helps with my oral fixation.

The KR808 was great for making me smoke less mainly with its ease. I probably would have been less receptive to e-cigs with a 3 piece.

I admit the 3 pieces produce more vapor and has a better throat hit but I'm trying to quit so I need something set up quickly to ease my cravings. Though I am going to try a 901 atomizer on my KR808 batteries to at home (I have a bad hookah addiction too, lol).

Also remember all parts eventually have to be replaced (my dogs destroyed my last battery and I destroyed a few leaving them in my pants in the wash) so don't be to set on getting the best e-cig.

Whatever you decide remember quitting cigs is the first step.

I ruined 3 months of analog cig free till my dogs destroyed my last battery and I just didn't have time to order another one because I was searching for the best e-cig.

In hindsight I should just ordered the replacements and I would have saved more money. Buying a pack here and there (especially with the recent NYC tax rate) has become more costly than just buying the parts.

Well new orders will be in soon and hopefully I'll be smoke free till I break my gear again. Note, I am extremely rough on my gear.

Good luck and have an open mind. It won't be the same thing but it might be even better. My gf loves vaping more than cigs from the beginning. I had to force myself and now find it more enjoyable (laidback?).

Grab yourself an Ego or a Riva with some 510LR Atty's & some 510LR Cartos, you can thank me later zmadmonk

I agree with this, .... mostly. After reading your original post over a few times I think I'd suggest a Riva or eGo with REGULAR 510 cartomizers. The LR (low resistance) cartos are designed to simulate high voltage. You said that you're not interested in that. They don''t last as long as the regular ones either. Cartomizers hold more juice so you don't have to fill them as often. Cartos are disposable but can be refilled and reused several times. A box of five empty cartos costs about $8.00 most places. You can easily pay that much for 1 atty. The atty will last longer but you may get tired of filling the cart up all the time.
The Riva and eGo are suggested because they have a better battery than a stock ecig. the charge lasts about 4 times longer. This relieves the frustration most people experience with having to charge regular ecig batteries every hour or two.

Totally agree here! Ego or Riva. I would suggest getting the LR catomizers at the beginning since you are wanting more simplicity and less hassle. Plus you get 5 of them for about $10.00. In regards to how long they last well that can be crap shoot. I had one atty die on me after about 5 days. The other is going strong after two weeks. Hey a pack of smokes costs (on average) $6.00 a pop. So even if an atty or carto only lasts you a week it's still way cheaper than analogs. Keep in mind the learning curve can (at times) be frustrating. Just stay with it and keep educating yourself on ECF. Welcome to the world of vaping!

I think simplicity is the key.....If you're trying to quit just get any 2 piece in your budget. I would definitely recommend the KR808 from V4L. I ordered the starter kit with several cartomizors of peppermint several 4 mg and several 0 mg..... Vaper 4 life was great and easy to order from, I order Monday and it was here by Thursday... Same with my second order. I was lucky in that the WOW peppermint flavor is just what I needed to give up reg cigs! I am over the hill excited, smiling all the time actually!

Ill recommend totallywicked-eliquid.com, and cignot.com
Both have quality goods, and sell liquids.
510 is a great start. If you dont want to have to recharge batteries a lot,and dont care about look, then go for an ego kit. 510 batteries last 2 hours, megas last 4 for heavy smokers.
Either way, get some extra attomisers, as they are variable on longevity, depending on your habits and use. Get a good selection of liquids also. 3-5 ml bottles, and different flavors to see what you like personally at first, but get at least 30 ml worth, and be ready to rebuy some quickly. 1 ml= a pack, and you'll be waiting on shipping. Match your MG strength to your current ciggy. 24 for reds, 18 for lights, 12 for ultra. The rest will come with time and experience. :D

Congrats on your decision to start vaping. If you want to keep it simple I would go with an Ego. Come with 2 batteries so you use one while the other is charging. Lasts about 8 hours per charge. With the new Ego cartomizers they hold 2.5ml of juice-meaning 1 may last you the whole day. You fill them with a syringe. The cartomizers have the attomizer (the heating unit) and juice cartridge together.
I would recomend cignot.com/ They carry the egos, ego cartomizers and the juice. They have a great reputation and are very helpful with questions. Try not to get too overwhelmed as I know there is alot of info. to sort through. Good luck. Jenn

Before making a suggestion as to where to buy something, it would be nice if you would fill in your location in your profile since we have people from all over the world on this forum.

I'd hate to suggest a great vendor here in the US who doesn't ship overseas and then find out you live in Bangkok, Thailand.

Welcome to ECF!

I'm with the eGo crowd. Thats what I ordered a couple of weeks ago and I love it. The kit comes with 2 atomizers, but it's a good idea to get a few extras just in case. You can get the cartomizers as well to see if you prefer using them instead of an atomizer/cartridge setup. I prefer the atomizer over the cartomizer.

DON'T FORGET TO ORDER SOME JUICE!!!!!! As was mentioned by another poster, it is advisable to order several small (3-6ml) bottles of juice in different flavors to see what you like. Getting a couple of different strengths is good too. Once you find out what flavors you like and what mg strength works for you then order more in larger sizes.
