Any other dog-owners here notice that since quitting you can't look your dog in the face? I always thought my dog must have the best doggy breath ever, as it didn't bother me unless he literally tried to lick my face. But now that I've quit smoking and can actually SMELL again, I can't even lay down next to my pooch without being overwhelmed by a scent of dog-mouth I haven't experience since my early teens!

A small price to pay for escaping my cigarette habit for sure, but I think Thor would love for me to start smoking again if it meant I could play with him as close up as I used to.

haha wow. I actually brush my dogs teeth to get them clean...he also gets a chewy bone called a "greenie" every day to clean his teeth because I'm like you and really don't like dog breath but I think if you do those things even though it is more work you will be happier in the long run and so will your dogs teeth.

Just catching up on some older threads...OMG this is exactly what has happened with my chi and I. I have noticed his breath seeming a bit rank lately and have been prying open his mouth and inspecting his little fangs to no avail. I even accused him of lunching at the cat box buffet, but no, it's my smeller not so much his mouth! too funny.

I will have to go get him some little breath bones or something cos I'm not sure I can take much more of the close stuff!

My sense of smell has been the worst side effect by far. Everything stinks to me now. At work, I walked into the closed file room and gagged at the musty smell (I used to love the smell of old papers and books). When it rained the other day, the air smelled like a wet dog (mind you, this was after a long dry spell, and if the rain had actually lasted long enough to give the earth a good washing, I'd probably have enjoyed it). Thankfully, my love of my perfumes has not waned. If anything, they smell more amazing now, and that's a relief because I have over 200 bottles of the stuff, collected and procured from all over the world.

Gee, I would think you might not be nearly as nonchalant about the ol' walkies routine complete with scooper and paper bag either! lol
