The Next Step?

Hello! New to EFC although I've rolled around the forums for a while. Been vaping for about a month now, and I still feel in over my head with all the information and kits/accessory that the world of vaping has to offer. I quit smoking cold turkey and bought a Atmos Ole 510 and it was okay. But I didn't get the vapor output I wanted and didn't feel the throat hit so I was about to start back on the stickers again when I stumbled upon the South Beach Smoke Thunder, it being payday and all I decided one last time to try and stop smoking, just got my Thunder in the mail about a week ago and I LOVE IT. It's so great, don't even think about smoking normal cigs anymore. But not to beat around the bush my main question is whats next? Is there even a next, I've seen lots of people post about mechanical and electronically mods, box mods and heaps of other .... that confuses me to no extinct. So what did you guys start out on? and what are you on currently. Thanks for the help and the wall of text. I'll try to shorten it next time haha :vapor:

If your current set up is working you you currently, I would stick with it and do some research here on ECF.

There are alot of great devices out there, The MVP2 was my second step and it was a great one! Very long battery life. there are also a lot of different toppers out there that offer different vapes and they are always fun to try! Protanks, aspire nautalise(spelling), aspire BDC or BVC, Aerotank.

Then there are rebuildables that provide a lot more flavor and vapor but require a lot more knowledge to to safely and effectively. a DNA 30 or something like the iPV2 are good mods to use with rebuildables. Generally something like a dripper (iGO W or iGO L) is great to start with. Or a kayfun styled clone.

Pretty much there are a bunch of options out there for you, but you dont have to get into them all right away. Take your time and learn about them, go to your local B&M and talk to someone who knows his ..... and just try out some new stuff...
Oh yeah, and have FUN!!!

I took a look at the Thunder. The price I've seen on the kit are pretty ridiculous for what's included. (1300mah pen battery that's vv goes for like 15$, and the generic toppers for 10$, and those are higher estimates, but selling them as a kit for 100$? Crazy.)

Despite the price, seems like an okay kit. If you're enjoying it, there's no reason to go any further as long as it keeps you off of the cigarettes.

A better setup would be an MVPv2 and a Nautilus Mini or AerotankV2, or an iStick and the same toppers. Much longer battery life, finer variable voltage/wattage control, and passthrough. Higher quality for probably a lower price.

I started on a cigalike and moved to an iStick and Nautilus Mini. Very happy with the change.

Yeah, if what you're using is keeping you off the cigs and you're satisfied with it, there is no reason to progress.

You asked so here was my progression.... I started off with a Kanger Evod, then to a Vision spinner with a Kanger protank 2 mini, then a MVP 2.0 with a kanger aerotank, Then several mechanical mods with many Kayfun lite + rebuildable tanks (love the kayfuns), then a DNA 30 (variable voltage/wattage device) also topped with a kayfun RTA, tried several other RTA's (rebuildable tanks) besides the kayfun but I still like the kayfun best, stayed there for awhile and today I can say I have reached the end of the road... it can't possibly get any better than it is right now. I finally came off the hip and purchased a LP Reo Grand (bottom feeding mech mod) Absolutely love this thing. Everything else kinda pales in comparison.

I started off with an ego twist type device, and I was quite happy with what my Kanger MT3 tank. I only started looking at mods for 2 reasons; I wanted to be able to swap out batteries without switching devices and I wanted to build my own coils because I did not like the idea of having to stock up on replacement coils which are often tank-specific.

So now I have a VV mod (Provari mini v2.5) to go with my Russian 91/ Kayfun Lite, and unless I do something silly to break them, it should keep me going for a long while.

The benefits of my upgrading even though they were not important to me at the start are that I get much better flavour, vapour production, and that I can quite easily take my tank apart, wipe it down, swap out the cotton and change the flavours in minutes. My RTAs give me a much better vaping experience, but when I am travelling, I would do just fine going back to the ego twist and kangers.

Mechanical means no electronics, just a battery that typically completes its circuit with the mod itself. Variable voltage/ variable wattage is the other side of vaping which uses electronics to monitor your bat life, resistance of your atomizer and select how much power goes to the coil. Each type of device has its place. As far as box mod or tube mod that in itself is simply the shape of the mod which is merely preference. I started off with an over priced ego kit, then mvp, provari/kayfun and Reo with RM2 came next then I kinda down graded to a sigelei 20w. The sigelei was a gift that I use the most often because If i lost my provari or Reo I'd be livid. It sounds stupid I know.

If what you got works, then vape it. The money's already spent, so get all you can out of it.

And in the meantime, search through the forum.

After a Blu and a Logic, I got a Halo Triton kit. Then got 2 of their VV twist batteries. This was a year ago.

My next step was a month ago, got an iStick $35 and a nautilus mini tank $20, plus a coupla innoken x.i tanks $20 and some aspire vivi nova S tanks $6.

I went this direction as I'm lazy and haven't wrapped a coil myself. And the iStick has a really long battery life, it's variable wattage, and small and powerful. And a really good value.

Good luck, and welcome!
