I own a brass Origin but not the Geobukseon. I did a search and only found one thread with no replies about the Origin. I'd like to hear some thoughts and experiences of those who recently bought the Geobukseon (turtle mod) and also own the Origin by Footoon. On Vape Unit's facebook page they did voltage drop tests between the two and the Origin had a lower result. Which one hits harder? What features do you like between the two? Does it match or work well your rba's/tanks? Which one is more aesthetically appealing to you. If you could only own one which would you choose? Thanks for any replies.

I have the polished brass Turtle Ship and my girlfriend has the brushed brass Origin. Both hit about the same - like a truck! As you know, the Origin is 21mm so most RDAs look too big for it. My gf is using an IGO-W (torched to better match the brass, though it looks way darker in the pic) and it looks really sexy. The TS is 22mm and I have the Omega RDA which sits flush. Both thread into each mod smoothly. I'm more attracted to the TS because of the tube size, old Korean characters and logo, though the Origin is still a beautiful mod, especially the top cap. Since I got the TS, my girlfriend now wants one.

Gripes: While I really like the look of the Origin button, I hate the button assembly for a number of reasons. First, the adjustable delrin in the Origin is thin and flimsy while the TS delrin is quite the opposite (however both methods of telescoping are inferior to the Nemesis, I think). Second, the Origin button has too many pieces for no apparent reason. The knurled nut below the battery contact constantly comes loose after locking/unlocking a number of times and then the button assembly gets all out of whack leading to misfires and inability to lock. Each time we buy juice at a B&M, my girlfriend has the guys rebuild her RDA and every time they will check the button without even being asked. The TS button is very simple, just a flat top brass screw that screws into the actual button, it has never come loose on me nor has it ever misfired. Lastly, the locking ring on the Origin is very thin and can be difficult to lock/unlock. The larger TS lock ring has been much easier to use.

Though I've only had the TS since Saturday, I honestly couldn't be happier. It's a very simple mod that functions wonderfully every time. When back in stock, I will definitely pick up another in brushed SS. I really have no desire for an Origin. Don't get me wrong, the Origin still vapes really well and some people might love it, but for me the reasons above (and the price) were a deal breaker.

I hope this was helpful. If you have any other questions, I'm more than happy to try and help further.

Thanks for your input. My switch hasn't loosened up since I had torqued down on the knurled nut under the bottom pin on my Origin. It gets a little tricky when trying to get battery contact on the AW IMR 18650 1600 mah battery since it's not as tall as my Efest 18650 2000 mah batts. If your rba doesn't have an adjustable center pin then you have to adjust the bottom derlin washer to raise the battery for positive contact with no gaps or rattle which telescopes just enough to achieve that. The center section on the bottom of the switch does adjust the throw in conjunction with the threaded bottom pin. I do find that the locking ring sometimes gets stuck in the locked position. Either the external diameter should be just a little larger or add some type of texturing to get some traction since it's so thin. Also I find the finer threads on the locking ring takes more turns to get to either end at full throw but when the throw is shortened it isn't that bad.

Today I took some 3m 800 grit sand paper and sanded both top and bottom brass posts. Then I mirror polished them using a polishing wheel on the Dremel and some Flitz compound. I also cleaned all the threads up and applied a generous amount of Noalox on them. The origin hits even harder now. I want to test the voltage drop difference with and without a load next time I'm at a vape shop.

Between the two aesthetically I also like the air flow ring design on the Origin. The turtle mod's design is simpler aesthetically so the characters help with that aspect. The larger diameter helps with matching more tanks or rda's and would make a more seemless hybrid look with the right one.

Funny I have the same two 2Puff drip tips and also torched the ss cap on a IGO-W but a bit more that I got a deep purple/blue tint which contrast the brass beautifully. The IGO-W is closer to matching the Origin's diameter. Does your girlfriend want to maintain the brightness of the brushed brass or develop a patina? I'm thinking of picking up a brass polished turtle mod since the ss and brushed versions are sold out. The brass should perform better than the ss. The thicker locking ring should make it easier to use.

Right before posting I built both our attys with ekowool for the first time and added noalox to both mods. Now they're buttery smooth and like yours, hitting even harder! The noalox made her lock ring much easier to deal with.

I think she's liking how her Origin is tarnishing naturally just from using it. Can't really tell from my pic, but the brushed parts have gotten quite a bit darker since the night she brought it home. Has anyone done the patina thing? And I assume you're talking about turning it that blue/green color? That would be cool to see on this mod.

Not to nit pick, but the Geobukseon has Chinese characters on it, not Korean.

This isn't out of place though, as prior to the invention of the Hangul alphabet commissioned by Sejong, Korean's used Chinese characters.

Indeed. Sorry, that's what I meant to convey with "old Korean".

Turtle Ship was actual ship that was used about 300 years ago to fight against Japanese navy.

The Turtle Ship was so uniquely designed and destroyed more than 1000s of Japanese ships.

a single turtle ship.

The general who designed & also commanded the unit was 'Lee Sun Shin'. Known as one of the best generals in history of any kind of war After Christ.

The laser engraved phrase is one of his line before the war began (which he used one single turtle ship to destory entire Japanese navy)

"Those who willing to live will die, and those who willing to die will live"

I just got An origin , and love it. Awsome mod. Fit and finish is outstanding. I have no problem with bottom , but havnt disassembled it yet. The only weak spot I see is the "flimsy" delran ring used to thread out to stop battery rattle. It is way to thin and probably will need to be replaced sooner than later. I'd like to buy a few to have on hand, as this is definatly a keeper. If anyone knows how to purchase the ring , please let me know. Thanks !

I fixed most of the issues that bothered me with the Origin firing button. When locking or unlocking it used to squeak. When pressing to fire, I could feel something rubbing and clicking. I found a solution posted on UVO Systems FB page where the took they ends of the springs and very slightly bent them up for the bottom end and down for the top end. Then put some Noalox on the locking ring threads.

Some of the UVO dealers here are getting replenished on the brushed Turtle ships and am now stocking their FB pages when they have them back in stock. I'm leaning towards the brushed stainless which looks great with the brushed KFL and since I already have the brass Origin but the brushed brass also looks nice especially when it develops a patina and the characters really give it an antique Chinese heirloom. It would also look nice with a Fauxgotti brass cap on an Igo-W and a nice brass drip tip.

Added the Fauxgotti cap then I polished the airflow ring, bottom beauty ring, and firing button. I also brushed finished the accent rings and the 2Puff slash cut muffler brass drip tip with a fiberglass bristle scratch pen.

Polished the KFL end caps, ss tank, and base of Chiz drip tip last night.
