Hey guys, it's a great day to be vaping because I happened to get a good triple digit paycheck this period AND my favorite vape lounge had an authentic JD Mods Turtle Ship V2 in stainless steel. I walked in planning to try out some Space Jam juice, and ended skipping out the door like a schoolgirl 200 smackers poorer :p, but well worth it. It wasn't in rough condition either, everything is in-tact, the wide brass pins, the white delrin insulator, the oh so silky threads (feel like they have wd40 on them, I'm not used to that) and all the flawless engravings. I wouldn't have cared even if it was in less-than-perfect condition because it's more the idea that I own the original design is what's cool to me. They volt drop tested it for me, and with a .2ohm coil it had a .14 volt drop, not to shabby and I plan to keep it that way.

Well the point of this thread is to ask if it's a smart idea to "upgrade" the authentic, with "enhanced" clone parts. I've had an hcigar V2 clone for a bit now, that's pretty amazing because of the magnetic switch I swapped it with, and the silver plated copper contacts it came with. I know technically it would make the authentic Geobukseon better (although the firing switch is already what I like, I can't complain for sure lol) but something just doesn't feel right about doing that. It's like throwing a better honda civic engine into a classic car ya know?

-What do you guys think? Keep the authentic as is, or "enhance" it.

I'm thinking I'll just carefully swap the parts and see how it feels, there's definitely something special about this mod though as it is.

Yeah I've had my eye on it, but really the only difference is more ventilation on the top cap, and the engravings. And I'm not sure if I dig the new engravings yet, they dominate most of the mod and, I don't like the Yi-Sun-Shin face on the stainless and have never cared for brass. They kinda look less classy/simple like those designer water bottles lol. I don't know though, it all boils down to if the final design has anything revolutionary on it. (function wise)

Don't even sweat it....RJ'S other mods like Chinese Animal Zodiacs and style of Mojo's Buffalo mods didn't even fly out the door because there is too much going on...People like the Turtleship v1/v2 because of simplicity and hits good..

In the end, you buy something like this because you like it...not because you're keeping up crowd..I'm semi "jellly", cause I got a clone..and it took an O-ring to make battery to stop rattling...

My "jelly" mod will be simple authentic Nemesis ...hopefully I get one soon..

I'm confused .. your comment says Turtle Ship V2, but you have a V1 in the picture. And JD doesn't make the Turtle Ship, RJ Mods does.

But anyhoo, I love the Turtle Ship V2, and am waiting for one myself. Your pic looks sweet, and I personally wouldn't think twice about swapping out the pins, especially if its beneficial to performance. The whole clone vs authentic is pure illusion to me.

0.14 voltage drop with a 0.2 ohm load? What was the type and capacity on the battery when it was tested? or was it with an actual testing equipment?..that would make more sense.

The floating pin caused me to want to throw it when I first got a v1 clone, but I've grown to appreciate floating pins more than adjustable pins..

I'm sure many would like the v3 tube..I personally love the simplicity and elegance with the v1 and v2...and no upgrades to the mod itself with the v3..

Lol everyone's gotta have a jelly mod, I was playing by the way hehe I know alot of people don't even like the turtle-ship, I, like you, like the classy/simple look. I've got a copper nemesis clone that I'm dreaming about the authentic for. I only tried for the turtle ship first because I like it's locking cap better, but the nemesis is just as good looking. (It can't be just a plain metal tube though, not too boring :p.

Oops  I had JDTech in my brain (the only other authentic I have is the copper stingray), well don't I just look like a big phony now.

Yeah I threw up the first pic of a turtle-ship mod I had saved on my computer, I've had some HCigar clones that have put the authentics to shame but like I said it's more the idea of having the design you appreciate from the real creator instead of a copy. It's not just because you spent alot of money and your proud of it, 200 smackers isn't really a treasure to me anymore but usually the quality is alot better. It just does what it's supposed too, as a smelter I can tell the difference between surgical/marine grade stainless steel and chinese 304 steel, it's heavier, smoother, butterier (lol), and feels good if you "close your eyes and vape" if you know what I mean.

Ouch, they sold you a V1 as a V2 :/. My condolences for your wallet.

LOL my wallet's content still, I just didn't see the point in me throwing up a crappy iphone picture of my v2, because let's be honest; unless you have an HD camera, you can't tell the difference between a clone and an authentic, and I don't have an HD camera. However this guy in the pic had one, and a nice turtle-ship by RJ, I had this saved and my excited hands just put it up, because I don't care and just want to start playing with it.

*I edited it though, now there's a v2 next to it*

Hell I'D LIKE A V3! Are you kidding lol? :p I wasn't saying "I don't want a v3" because they still look amazing, I was more saying "I already have my favorite of the turtle-ship line, so I can't justify buying another (expensive) authentic." Don't get me wrong I'm not hating on the v3 AT ALL, I'll probably buy one in a couple of months (maybe), I just wouldn't trade my v2 for it.

*Twas testing equipment sir, and once I test it myself soon (even though they showed me the result in person) I'll be using a Sony vtc4 2000mAh (the only batter I trust) fully charged, with a cheap volt reader from ebay lol. I usually just go by feel though, I can tell the difference between an absolutely crappy clone, or a quality authentic (sometimes they're reeeaaalllly close though, I gotta say my Hcigar TS clone is almost right on the money vape wise).

it's not like if you do these "upgrades" and don't like them or one day decide to sell the mod (which I don't see why you would, especially based on that v3 mod if that's real, which is hard to believe since it's sooo godson ugly. I eon a brushed brass v2 and I love it still, was my first mech) it's not like the changes are irreversible. You can always put the spring switch back in and swap out the contacts back to the surprisingly top performing original contacts. So give it a shot and see how you like it, you've got nothing to lose, do what makes you happy, not what you think others expect or will be impressed by. =] KOV:vapor:

Ps. Your attachments don't work at all.

Keep it authentic, just in case you want to sell it and get v3 coming out

Turtleship V3 by RJMOD
Please tell me that's not real, it can't be, it's so ugly. If it is that's crazy, it's like they went from the v1 (best design in my opinion, nicer engravings especially), to the v2 (which I own in brushed brass and like a lot), to this hideous eye sore
