Greetings to all ECF friends and members. I know it has been a while since I made it online. I have been very busy in the dismal reality of RL. I have a LOT fo reviews that I need to do, but my camera died as you may or may not know, I thought I had a replacement but it was worthless. So I decided I will post some WRITTEN reviews in the meantime. Next month I think I finally will have my new camera and video reviews will be following up on all of these posts. I realize I have posted quite a few reviews, but I was really backed up on them from waiting for a camera. Oh well.. Here goes another of my "Finally Doing It" reviews..

DISCLAIMER JUNK : I have received a number of products for free from various suppliers for the purposes of evaluation and review. Please be aware, and anyone who knows me will vouch for my integrity and honesty, that whether I paid for a product or not I will always and ONLY report what I believe to be accurate and honest evaluations of all products I have experienced. It is now, and always been, my intention to help my community of vapers be as completely and truthfully informed about the prolific number of choices available to them in the explosive growth industry of personal vaporizers and electronic cigarettes. Also, you need to know that I am not a person with a medical background and I do not make any claims as to the safety or risks to your health from the use of any products I review. I offer these reviews only as a report of my own personal observations. You should talk with your medical care provider if you have any concerns regarding the use of e-cigarettes/personal vaporizers. Thanks and on with the reviews!

THE PRO-VARI

I have written this review several times because it keeps stretching out much longer than I was really hoping for. I know people like to get information, but I am very partial to my Pro-Vari and it offers so much that I keep finding myself going off on tangents and then having to go back over it again. So.. With this in mind I am starting from scratch one last time and however it turns out this time is how it turns out. Bear with me folks. I am trying to give you everything you need without anything that ends up pointless. Although.. Knowing me, that may not be possible at all.. :D

I had been looking at the Pro-Vari PV's for a very long time, finding myself repeatedly drawn to their site. I am sure a lot of you have done the same. You go to the website and look at the different seletions for colors and add-ons, and the price just jumps out at you like a dead end sign. Well, for those of us who work on budgets at least. Almost every device I own, when not sent to me for the prupose of evaluation and review, was purchased through long durations of saving and waiting. Then, when you have the money, they are always sold out, right? RIGHT?!?! Well.. Not this time. When I finally had the more than $200 I needed to get my beautiful Pro-Vari with the nescessary add-ons, they were in stock. As soon as I completed the order, the excitement sank in and the dreaful waiting began. So did the second guessing as well, if we are being honest. I mean that is a LOT of money to spend on a single mod. I had to start thinking if maybe I made a mistake. What if it came and I did not like it? What if it was not as good as the pictures and video reviews had made it out the be? Well, it came in the mail and I was worried for nothing.

My Pro-Vari is the most advanced and feature rich device I currently own (aside from a severely advanced microcontroller PV I made myself but I am not going to go into that here). I will go into the Pro-Vari though. There is a lot to say about this device too. First, the construction is fantastic. It feels solid and weighty in your hand. It does not feel like a light or hollow tube like so many other metal mods do. Everything about this very advanced user device just screams DESIGN and FITTING. Nothing rattles in my Pro-Vari at all. Right down to the clear plastic window that covers the LED display. It has a safety vent hole in the bottom of the tube and it manages to pull off the very cool power management features and variable voltage capabilities while using only a single battery (I use the 18650 version myself) In case you were not aware, a single battery is the safest way to go for a PV. When you stack batteries, you are often leaving yourself open for extra potential issues, and let's face it; when you are screwing around with Lithium Ion batteries, you don't need to take any unnescessary challenges. These batteries won't just heat up and leak if the have a catastrophic short or other fail. These batteries can actually EXPLODE if handled improperly and not vented well. Nuff Scary Sed..

Using just a single 18650 battery in my Pro-Vari I have many features available to me with this PV. I start pressing the solid feeling cool-clicky fire button a few times and then choose whichever nice feature I want. Adjust the Voltage UP .1v at a time. Adjust the Voltage DOWN .1v at a time. Check the amount of power left in my battery. Check the ohm rating of my currently attached atty/carto so I know exactly where to set my variable voltage. Turn the PV on or off. Send a signal to my 15 year old daughter to call me immediately from wherever she happens to be. Uhmm.. Oh wait, sorry, that is a wanted feature.. Wrong list. All the other features are real though. They are incredible too. I get to see what voltage I am pumping out without my meter. I get to see what resistance my atty/carto is without my meter. All these features together, plus the very solid build, plus the cool style and the added safety, IMHO and until I find something better, make this PV the absolute best and most advanced VV PV you can buy hands down.

There is NO denying that this is an expensive mod. Do I regret buying it? Not for a moment. I would buy it again, and if and when my pro-vari goes to the big parts pile in the sky (spare mod parts box under my desk) I WILL buy another one. BUT.. Maybe next time I cough up the extra dough and get the one that is actually Gold Plated!!! I find that one to be just about the perfect mixture of Perfect Beauty and Obnoxious Me-Me-ness. :p

I got my Pro-Vari from ProVape

I got my Pro-Vari from ProVape

Got my camera ... so here is the youtube review!!

First I must say I'm new to vaping just over 2 months in and smoke free ( woohoo 4 me )
I have been on ECF and read many reviews and thoughts and post on many devices and have some the thoughts on the Provari.
Very few posts tell of the cost to get started with one (which I find quite strange) and in-fact yours and one other post even list a dollar amount invested to get started with one and what items they bought with it, the purchase of the Provari from scratch requires a number of items to be bought to buy one.
What is that Cost? Seems to me it requires $250 to $400 investment or More!
Again I'm a newbie but I can get 2 to 4 different devices for that and juice and find what I like or don't like. The technology is moving fast in this new industry and for me to make such a large investment in 1 device is questionable. The tank or whatever you want/need on top of device is more important to new vapor that an expensive device that you still need a back up for and that cost needs to be added to the Provari cost! Juice and tanks need to be tried out for the best fit and that can be quite a big job and cost. I have about $150 in 2 devices and still can't find a tank that works well and that would not change with a device that cost 2 or 3 times as much. It is my view that folks with around 2 years plus experience for the most part use a device other than Provari, many use a Box Mod & others. There are at least 2 or more devices that are high quality and sell in the Provari price range, these should also be part of any recommendation to a newer vapor. Just think many new vapors are lead to believe the Provari is the best hand down device available when many alternatives are available to get and keep the new vapor of the nastys, which is the main goal!
Just my thoughts after just over 2 months into vaping.

Well to get started you need of course a provari a basic charger and a couple of batteries for me delivered to Canada it was about $240 CAD . At the time I had not ordered a 510 to ego adaptor so add another $7 or so . The puctured cartomizers are about $3 apiece and last about a week . Last add a couple of batteries at $10 to $12 each .

This is a recent order

Well these are not really a device for entry level vapers. These are what some would call advanced user devices. The cost is prohibitive, but being someone who makes mods regularly, I can only say that I enjoy the craftsmanship and strength of the build as well as the tech features of the incorporated microcontroller electronics. I would not expect anyone to buy a provari just out of the starting gate anyways. Heck, it took me almost 2 years before I made up my mind to buy one. So, knowing what a big decision it was for me, I knew the right thing to do was to share my experience with others like me, who would benefit from the additional information. I am not out leading anyone to believe anything. I am just sharing my experiences. I have reviewed a hell of a lot more than just the provari.

Whether you want to spend that kind of money on a top end device means nothing as to whether or not I think it is the best microcontroller PV on the market. You are making it sound like I am misleading people or something.

Mark, your review/video of the Provari is excellent. I don't think you are trying to misleading people.
My last cig was on April 27th 2012 and got my first Ecig Kit shortly before that. Since then I found ECF and started reading and going to vendor websites. As all can see I have not made many posts to this site. I found myself more into research and viewing till I felt I had something to add. I just want anybody reading any Provari review, this just happen to be yours, to have other alternatives to look at. I just wished i had found ECF and more information before I started buying stuff. I just hope I'm still around here posting with you when I have as much experience as you do and staying off the nastys.
