Hello everyone, Ive always really wanted one of these, but either could not find it in black, or if it was , then it had only the brass top and switch, or could not afford it.

So I was lucky enough to find this one used and at a really reasonable price.

It is in really good shape, and now all the "bits" are nice and shiny since the photos. I just spent a good amount of time, carefully cleaning and shining, and coating it with a good wood protectant and feed.

Its the most different switch and top design. It came with a standard brass hybrid top and the other top cap they made for those atties that did not have a long enough 510 pin.

I can get it to work great with the hybrid top, but when I use it with the other top cap with my Origen rta, that has a very short pin, I get a bit of rattle and if I adjust the switch then I get some auto firing. I can get it pretty close to just a hair of rattle and no auto firing, but I have a feeling Im just not getting the non hybrid top just right.

I cant find anything on the newer top cap, which I think is called the V2 style.
I found a good review by Todd but its the standard hybrid top. The FB page is in German mostly and like most German fan pages, they are not overly helpful.

I have another tube coming in that the seller found after he shipped so I will in essence have 2 of them soon. Its a dark garnet red tone wood.

I dont know if this is the 22mm standard Woodpecker, or a special edition or a V2.

Thanks so much ahead of time for any help and tips.

No one here has one? I wish I could get detailed instructions for the special top cap. Seller was so kind and generous I dont want him to think Im not happy, being from Switzerland there is a language gap Im sure.

He sent so many spares that it was actually 2. What can I say, I have to figure out something to send him.

It is a brass tube underneath the drilled out wood, not a veneer. Its is very light and is very cool.
Magnetic switch too, it stays cool too. This is the second magnetic switch that I doesnt get hot or warm, The Nanos is a good one too.

The Woodpecker and the Nanos are both very short 18650s, about the length of the average 18500 tube mech and same length of my Provaris in 18350 mode.

OK, figured it out myself, the problem with the rattle had to do with my batteries.
I got in some green Panasonic NCR18650BE 3200mAh. Seems they are a much better fit. Dont know if they are wider or longer or what, but there is no rattle even with the special top cap for atties with short 510 pos pins.

Loving the Woodies even better. I loved they way they looked that I was even going to endure the slight imperfection of a slight rattle or not use that top cap and only use my FEVs.

Now I can use any of my RTAs, even my beloved Origens without fear of mishap because of the short pos pin.

BTW, these Panasonics are fantastic, they last much longer than the AWs I usually use and a better fit than the red LG I have.

I hope that if anyone had or has or has been thinking of getting a SaruMods Woodpecker they can buy the proper batteries and not have to go through the dreaded "battery rattle"

I will give those a try next time, but for now those Panasonics seem to be performing great.
Whats the difference ? I am a very modest in my power needs, I usually build a simple single coil of 317l SS at around .80 to 1.0 at 2.5mm diameter. I just checked all my atties last night and .80 and .90 ish is my usual.

Uh those have a "massive" 3,5A max cont discharge. Stop using those and buy some VTC5s.

Nope.

You're good to go at that resistance.
