I hope this works out....

Teaser pic:
IMG_20120204_193246.jpg

Consists of 20ml syringe parts, old carto case that will be slotted, a pretty big needle (will need another... I broke the rest trying to bend them), and a silicone cap from a fluxo (CE2). The wick that is sticking out is for inspiration. the real wick will probably be ss400.

Will probably require a specialized mod like nicotime's unless I can figure out a way to put a 510 on the needle ends.

Nicotime's mod: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/214215-i-call-my-mod-warning-graphic-intense.html

I'll have to keep a look see on this project!! LOL

I was going to try this setup once..but I havent used a 510 connection or the CE2 for a long time now so I never had the motivation to do it.

Of course you would still need to make the coil rods either like these or your own version...but its not really that hard.

Its kinda like a cross between what I use now and these versions of my first quartz tube attys....

Good luck! :toast:

New pics. Was able to take a test vape:

This is the fill side plugged with a boge cap and a saphire fill plug.

We have vapor!

I am currently using a CE2 wick wrapped in SS mesh because the opening to the tank hole is so big. Held upside down it does not leak!!!! Of course it only holds a little beause I haven't slotted the carto yet.

Probably all the work on this I will do till next weekend.

Nope... Sewing needles. "basting needles" from Walmart. It is the part I'm not happy with. they seem to add a lot of resistance into things and wrapping the coil is a pain. I'm currently looking into how to do something closer to what nicotime does but without "all" the machining.

Edit:

I am now happy enough with the needles to continue using them. Once soldered to the 510 atty connector, I am getting better readings. I think that using the standoffs like nicotime uses will be good enough as well.

Interesting stuff. You can bend the needles a lot without breaking if you heat them to glowing with a butane torch. I'm curious which part of this you are getting resistance from, the connections? Also if you match your needle size to a syringe needle, they can make a nice socket. :)

Prototype complete!

Goals in V2... Optimize airflow. Minimize soldering (soldering to stainless steel is an exercise in futility without the proper flux).

I tried an experiment by twisting 2 strands of 36awg nicrome together to halve the resistance. Made the atty somewhere in the neighborhood of 2.2 ohms. My theory is that there will be more surface area to vaporize the juice (really all I have is 34 & 36 awg nicrome and wanted lower res than what I was getting with single strands).

I did tape over the holes I made in the side and ran a tube down from the top to near the coil & it helped vapor production a lot (still doesn't seem to be where it should with a 2.2ohm atty, though). I have an idea for a mouthpiece, but it will take a while to make.

I also have an idea to help with condensation that can be tried sooner. I will post more details as I have tried the ideas.

Looking good, hard to tell from the angle but you might want to back off the coil and wick from the top a bit. Do those pics show the optimized airflow? Also do you have a tube/ferule for the wick to go through or just the plunger?

You can kind of see in this pic that it is a "stopper, mouthpiece, plug?" from a CE2. The black part when looking down on the top that says "microcig."

It's the black thing on the left. when I break it down to work on it I will give a good pic of all the parts.
