I'm still learning how to rebuild my coils, trial and error as well as looking at every YouTube video I can find. The people here have been so helpful too. So, last night I made what I thought was a perfect coil. 32 ga. Kanthal and organic cotton. It tested at 1.5 ohms, heated evenly. So proud. The vapes were delicious, oh man, they were good. A few hours later, I felt some heaviness in my chest, and my throat started to feel raw. I was thinking perhaps I inhaled some cotton, or poison. Thinking never again! Well, I woke up this morning with sore throat and very stuffy head. I developed laryngitis. I have a freaking cold! The timing of the cold and my rebuilt coil had me convinced I did irreparable harm, talk about over reacting! I can't believe I have a cold and I'm happy about it! I MADE A PERFECT COIL AFTER ALL!

More work then the average builder has time to do. Have done it before--never will again.

If you could build it out of thick enough wire so that it NEVER had to be replaced...just cleaned then it might be worth it. Otherwise, yeah that's just way too much work.

If you are getting into coil building and have an Android device check out the free app Vaper's Toolbox. It helps a lot.

too bad it doesnt help with twisted wire. ive been trying to figure out what 32 guage doule twisted kahal would be as far as resistance and how many wraps; totally useless. other than that though i discovered this app and its great.

It does work to a degree. The Wire Cutter page will be correct if you select dual coil 32ga because two strands twisted is in effect 2 parallel resistors. The problem in Coil builder is that it will be based on untwisted length so will recommend more wraps than necessary. To counter this, what you can do is cut your wires the length given in Wire Cutter +2 inches. Then make a mark on each wire 1 inch from both ends. Then twist them. When wrapping your coil, stop wrapping when you have just enough wire left so that the coil will make contact with the posts right on the spot where you made the marks....wallah perfect coil.

The main reason I have not tried to implement twisted wire into the app is because no one will ever twist the wires the same amount. How many times you twist it will alter the final true length of the wire. Thus the app will never be able to know how long of a wire you will be working with. The best best is marking the wire at the correct length before twisting as mentioned above.

Well that's.... Dumb

I agree. That is why I haven't and probably never will make an iPhone version. If I did I would have to charge something to pay the fee and cover the cost of buying the Mac. The web based version should work on iPhones though when finished and I can give Apple the finger instead of the $99/year.

I'm always willing to try a new build at least once--usually after that I'm done with it. I'll leave that craziness to Rip Trippers!

It is a wonderful feeling and something you should be proud of. The YouTubes are wonderful because I learn better when I can see what people are doing instead of just following the written instructions. Look forward to reading about your future vaping success and what you are rebuilding. Be sure to post it because it can help others so much. That is the best part of ecf. :)
