The Tesla Mod or...

I will be upgrading in the future to a better mod, I currently use the Vision Spinner II with Aspire ET-S tank. I am considering upgrading to the Tesla and the nautilus Mini. Is there a better mod, or would the Tesla be a good mod to start with coming from Ego style mods?

Among others, I have a Tesla VV/VW - they also make mechs and a fairly new Spinner type.

The VV/VW is a nice, solid device. It is limited to 3 amps, and only uses 18650 size batteries. The amp limit is low compared to some (i.e. Vamo, SVD and others go to 5 amps max), but I've not had any issues with 1 - 3 Ω coils. Not good if you want to sub-Ω. And since it's not a sectional (like the Vamo and others) or telescopic (like the SVD and others), you won't have any options to make it shorter.

Machined from aircraft grade aluminum, it's relatively light, but very sturdy. Mine's had a few drops, and come through just fine. (Can't say the same for the Protank! )

The (sort of) triangular cross shape I find to be very comfortable to hold. And like the SVD, the Tesla has the ability to lock the settings so they don't get accidentally changed. That's a feature I wish more had!

The only thing I'm not happy about with mine is the ego well. It should have been machined out a little bigger. A T3S won't go down (an extender takes care of that), an Evod will. But since I'm generally using a Kayfun, it's not a major issue for me. Can't say about your ET-S, as I don't have one to try.

The Tesla VV? (There is also a mechanical going by the name of Tesla.) Based on my highly biased experience: skip the Tesla. I paid eighty bucks for one and the fire switch lasted about three months. (It has a fire switch that you would expect to find on the likes of a front panel of a DVD player. Great for a switch you might never actually push. Bad choice for an APV fire button.) It was only backed with a 30 day warranty and I wish I had listened to my gut on that one. It's pretty looking - but the internals are cheap and for the money it's doing nothing more than basic 33 Hz PWM regulation, similar to what you are already getting from your Spinner but with more bells and whistles. In other words, it doesn't produce a smooth vape because of the PWM design. (AKA: the rattlesnake effect.) Short version: It's old - and cheap - technology in a pretty package. You pay a lot for the pretty.

You can get a lot more bang for less buck with an MVP 2.0 if you are ok with the box design. And for less money, based on the electronics, any version of a VAMO puts out a better vaping experience than a Tesla.

In my years of vaping the Tesla has been one of only two major APV fails I have run across.

About $35 at the site I referenced, so not much more than a high capacity Spinner type. Good batteries and charger, and ready to move into any other 18650 type mod.

I find my Tesla and Vamo, SVD, KMax and MVP all vape pretty much the same. The Vamo has an extender on it to protect it's threads (Yes, it's set to RMS.) The SVD fire button went "soft" about three months in, but still works fine. The KMax runs hot - not an issue as long as I remember to set it lower! (But I personally prefer the multi button mods.)

The current release - don't know how far back that is - says "PWM chip tuned to RMS", btw. As far as button life goes, I've only had mine a couple months, so haven't reached your end point yet

My 2 cents...i bought a Tesla and used it for about two days. The "rattlesnake" noise from it (with pro tank 2) drove me nuts. I passed it on to a friend of mine. He likes it and it has survived several drops and still works.

I want the Tesla just because of the name. A man born in Croatia, and died in America. I hope to be the opposite. I say buy it.
