The ultimate power sources (so far) - why mess with batteries?

Other than some "cool" factor I am unclear as to why there is still so much discussion and grief about battery life... why use batteries at all? The "cord" of a USB attachment is a LITTLE less cool - but the small size and ease and SUPER long life of battery power packs make them my ultimate choice! I value reliability over cool. I am a heavy vaper, but I don't bother with charging or carrying around or buying batteries, nor do I run out of power (making my only "spare" issues the atty's). I use both the YP-M8565 Power Bank (lasts forever (full week or more!), used with my 801 mega smoke system) and the sleeker Kensington K38021/K33396 (my 401 power source (a little less longevity (5 days or so...), but more cool factor and fits in the smallest of pockets) - both of which provide EXCELLENT and constant power for all my ecigs. Seems to me that trying to find a longer lasting (and generally bigger) battery to keep up with and constantly recharge, and reconnect and such, is a bit like buying cartridges instead of juice to refill with - :headbang:

Now, when they make a watch battery or something similar that keeps on ticking without recharging very often (once a week or less?) with enough power for ecigs - I might change my method. But for where things are now - I'll keep my vape 'up and on" at all times when and where i want it with power banks!

it took me a great deal of time and research (mostly here on the forum) and trial and error (buying things i saw in the store that I thought might work!) to find the ones that really do work- and those 2 listed above WORK GREAT with all usb ecigs. just my 2 cents worth.

Just a caveat I forgot to mention - I only use USB Passthrough cords that DO NOT have a in-line battery. Thus I get my power straight as my ecig wants it, and have no other parts to break or worry about! And one more thing - there are the rare times when the USB cord itself has a problem - so it is a good idea to have a spare of those for your chosen model at home too - but still not nearly the hassle of batteries.

Using the USB is rather like being chained to one's desk. Have no idea what the cops would have to say about driving down the road with one of these ecigs stuck in your mouth with the wire going to the USB plug plugged into converter plugged into the lighter socket.

Cheers,

Well, your power bank/pack IS a battery...

Or to be more precise, it has batteries in it. After reading so many posts about the power-pack/passthru combo, I've been wondering why none of the modders have stuffed 2 or 3 of those 18650's into a box with a USB port. It seems like a pretty straight-forward, easy mod to build. Maybe that's what I'll do for my "first mod", if I ever get around to it.

yeah - I tried the sd with bigger and badder batteries...and other mods... but once I got these battery banks - and got the hang of it all... well, there is no comparison to always being up and on without worries about power. These don't run "down", when they are done they are done - and ready to be recharged overnight or whatever... but both models have indicator lights by pushing a button, so you know if you have 2 bars of power left to plug it in that night and go for another week (or whatever). A light vaper swears theirs lasts over a month of constant pure, never worry about it power. Turns out, my kids now use them as well for their electronic toys and charging thier iphones and all that (what they were really made for) - so we have plenty of them around now that mom "discovered" them for ecigs.
Thing is, don't think every one of these power packs you see around in the stores will work your ecigs just becasue they might charge a phone or play a game system... MOST DON'T WORK for ecigs - but these 2 models are tried and ture among ecig users!

Call me crazy, but I don't want a chord hanging from my face all day.
I'd rather shove a small .... looking device into my face all day.

You don't have anything in your cigarette lighter - those don't work so great either! you are "plugged in" to your power bank which is "wherever" - in your pocket, in your cup holder, in your belt clipped ecig pouch (awesome). and yes, these are "batteries" - banks of power - but not like what you twist onto your attys. I am a VERY heavy vaper (fairly constant) and never have had an issue with power on these two models (I cannot make that claim about any other power sources and mods tried!).

I wouldn't limit myself to a power pack/PT setup alone, but I DO have and use the Kensington, and really like it. Actually, I've got a number of them, stocked up when I found them at a killer price. I know I'm not alone in this from other posts on this ECF. 5 volts and enough capacity to go days between charges. It can be charged while in use too. +1 for the Kensington.

I Googled the YP-M8565 Power Bank and couldn't find any in stock. Not that I need one, I was just curious about the price.

But you'll swing your arms like a windmill to get juice to the atty. lol

Not me, though. I've already munched most sigs here including yours.

'munched = Ad Blocker: Ad Muncher

As long as we're promoting things, ad muncher is great for getting rid of all the ads, popups, banners that you see here. It will even get rid of annoying sigs and sig pics like mine ;-)

Sorry! But, I'd be willing to bet I'm not the only person to buy more than one when they were 2/3rds off.
