The Vision Spinner 2 and Local Vape Shops

Yesterday I bought a Vision Spinner 2 from a vape shop in my area, no box just the device. That was the first red flag that it could be fake. So I asked them if these were genuine and not from a website like fasttech. They said they were genuine as far as they knew and if I had any problems I could return it. Later that night I went to Vision's website and saw a guide how to determine genuine vs. fake. Well it turned out mine was a fake with the volt text being higher than a genuine. So today I went back and told them about it, no trouble getting a pending refund on my debit card. After I left I went to another local brick and mortar to try my luck. This time I asked more detailed questions, they were very helpful. But they did have a combo of what looked like fake and genuine ones, with the boxes and all. So I walk out the door with what MAY be a genuine Spinner 2, it is slightly heavier than the other one i bought the day before. Anyways who knows I might of bought another fake, oh well lesson learned. Next time I'll use an authorized re seller online. So my question is, have any of you bought a fake Spinner 2 from you local shop??? And why is it so hard to buy genuine locally??? I mean I love supporting small business but I don't know about that in the vape world.

Thanks and vape on!:toast::vapor:

I've never had a problem buying from brick and mortar vape shops. I've spent more money than I would prefer to on most occasions, but I always got genuine products from them.

I've had numerous problems with online stores. Also, as with most products that are mainly made in China, caveat emptor... Lots of GOOD fakes out there...

Yeah I guess it all just depends. You are right about China and good clones haha. I have a Kangertech EVOD clone battery that just works great! But I always hear about those negative experiences where a knockoff will crap out in a week, or they lie about the battery capacity.

Good post. There is no regulation about exact, or near exact, clones because the clones come from countries that don't care about U.S. copyright law. When I go overseas, I see music CDs and movie DVDs for a dollar. The movie and music industry has been ranting and raving for a lot of years, to minimal success.

There are sub-forums here to post experiences with purchasing at B&M or on-line. There are rules about doing it also. This is a pretty prominent forum for the vaping establishment and businesses don't want to run afoul. Being a member and supporting ECF is worthwhile, I believe.

I have two Vision Spinner II batteries. My first bought at a reputable B&M the second from an "official" online retailer. The online Spinner cost half as much and might hold a charge a little longer. Other than that, the only way I can tell them apart is the color. I know the shops are having to get the best wholesale deals they can and some suppliers might be burning them with clones. I don't know of a B&M that would intentionally pass off a clone for an original but I'm sure one exists somewhere. I gave up trying to decipher between clones and originals and just look for the best deal from reputable sites/shops. But I don't order directly from China. That's the only way I know to dodge the lemmons.

Yeah I don't think the shop knew they were clones, I mean it is hard to tell. But if I'm going to spend $35.00 for a $15.00 clone it's going to bug me a little. I'm going on 5 weeks of vaping, I'm sure a year from now I'll look at this post and be like ... haha. Thanks for the info!

Any reputable sites you're willing to send a newbie to? I found discountvapes and a couple others, but the prices are ridiculously low, so I hesitate to use them.

I have used Vapor Beast. They ship fast and some of their prices are low...some stuff is high. And after checking them out I will be making a sizable order from 101Vape next week. And after my research I decided not to take a chance on Fasttech.

I bought my first 3 Vision Spinner ll from my B&M and have no doubt they are real compared to the way less expensive "genuine" ones I bought on ebay which are lighter and not the same finish. Any more that I purchase will be at my B&M. I still buy at least 1/2 my stuff from the B&M very nice and helpful staff and glad to give them the business.

The authentic Vision Spinner II is total trash. Vision knows this battery is seriously flawed, has promised to remedy the issue but over a year has passed and they still have not done so. Also, it has proven to be a fire hazard (DHL will not even ship them because of this), yet Vision continues to market them without addressing the issues. SHAMEFUL!

What's more, they refuse to provide refunds without making you jump through hoops. First they told me to submit a serial number which does not exist on the unit but supposedly is printed on the flimsy packaging which would naturally be discarded before realizing that there is an issue. Then they told me I would need to submit a detailed video that demonstrated the issues I was having). What a joke!

Vision is now on my BLACK LIST for such shameful behavior. This advice about "double-dipping" to get proper charging is an insult to a person's intelligence. That is Vision's solution to the problem and is even stated on their website. Can you imagine any reputable manufacturer offering such a solution instead of just fixing the problem.

Anyone offering a positive review of this battery is either extremely lucky to have a received a working battery or they have less than scrupulous motives for doing so. Most retailers are no longer offering the product and those that are should also be black-listed as well because they are well aware of the issues and are simply trying to unload their inventory on unsuspecting customers since Vision will not accept returns from them on these.

I will NEVER purchase anything marketing by Vision again...EVER! Theya re just another Chinese manufacturer that produced a great product (I own a couple of the original Spinners which have worked flawlessly for over two years) and then followed up with a defective product. The term "quality control" seems to NOT be part of the Chinese language IMHO.

DiscountVapes is a great company to buy from. I use them quite often, they will always tell you if the product is a clone and what they think of it. 101Vapes is another low price vendor that I use a lot.

Spinners seem to be highly counterfeited batteries. It's difficult for me to get a read on what ones are real or not either.

On ebay the Vision Spinner 2 ranges from anywhere between 15.95 to 34.95 for supposedly the same battery. I was just browsing for a friend though.

I would never get a Spinner 2 because it's too damn tall! After you put the tank on, there tip always bulges out of my pocket!

My secondary device is a generic Ego Twist that's only 4 inches tall. Other than a few small quirks it was been working great for me. Dunno why the brand name manufacturers can't make a similar form factor. Every VV device with at least 1000mah battery life is always at least 5 inches tall.
