So... my Vmod from the classies was dropped in the mail today.
For $45 I got... The full Vmod itself (black) AND... the old chasis, a couple AW IMR 14500 batteries, some seals for the cartos, 2 2.8 ohm silo cartos, and a of the couple rubber drip tips that came with it.

I'm a bit of a research/info junkie SOOO... I'm currently on page 26 of this thread so that I can learn the ins and outs of this things before it arrives. I'll be ordering some of the lr hybrid attys for sure as I prefer dripping even on my KGO's, and maybe a few of the lower silo cartos as well. I'll be needing a charger, I'll add spare batteries, and some of the stackables for 6v.
I'm really happy with what I've been reading about the life span of the hybrid attys in this set-up. :toast:

Kinda excited! I have been looking, and looking, and looking at juice boxes but really didn't want to spend a bunch of money on a fancy custom job, and I wanted it to be really small. If I love this one I'll probably gussie it up with a new wood look body and fancy matching drip-tip. :2cool:

Howdy all, had my first atomizer go out on me and wanted to know if this is what I can expect or if I can do anything to fix it. It's a 1.5 BF hybrid, was fine one draw then nothing on the next. It's seen 10 days of use and I kind of expected it to last a little longer than that.

They typically do last quite awhile.
Dark or sweeter juice can cut the lifespan.
Also, letting them run too dry.

The 2.8ohm are best for 6v...not enough power from the 3.7v batteries to work well.
I'm not a fan of the rubber drip tips either. Vapage changed to delrin for batch two.
I am a big fan of the 1.5ohm Hybrid atomizer...works great on the Vmod. :)

Oh...and Welcome! :)

Welcome Flwrfrog :) .. There is a wealth of info on these pages... There are also some tags at the bottom of the page. My advice to you is just take your time to get to know your vmod. Start w/it nekkid, (no body on it) and watch how it feeds so you know.. Then you'll figure out how many vapes you can take b4 you have to squirsh again :) :)... Your biggest problem after that is usually how many more you have to get, LOL... ... There are some awesome vmodians here that are more than willing to help you thru your learning curve. Have fun stalking the mailman!

Leaving the carto loose on a Vmod will allow juice flow through the connector's side hole....just like a GG UFS.

I was hoping for something like that, but what I found was that the carto connector's side pin-holes only connect with the outside, the ridge around the center post in the 510 connector. On an atty, looks like the pinholes dead-end into a plastic spacer.

So juice on a loose carto can only enter through the post/air tube. That's still great if it doesn't leak too much below for you.

Jiggling the tube up a bit on a standard atty doesn't require any tools but an old battery to hold it. Normal thickness juice seeps in fine along the fluting without even filing. Just sayin', if anybody wants to try different attys, and the "loose" technique doesn't cut it, alternatives are not hard. I love my Vmod w/ a Joye atty.

@Vikki, I think in part it's just a guy thing ;-) Love your bling! I used to take the heads off dolls and teddy bears.

You've got me intrigued, AG. Simple test: just plug the + pin's main air inlet with say a round tapered toothpick, and break it off 1/4 above the connector, so as not to poke the throat. Put mouth around carto -- can you blow in (through the pinholes)? I can't. Boge, Kangar, CE2, Smoktech. I did just find one old carto where I can blow thru, I don't know what brand.

@Gobbler, I'd guess where there are no options, like there are for the Silos, an out of stock item just doesnt show.

Vikki, are we talking about the same thing? Liquid going into the carto through those 2 tiny pinholes on the threaded part that screws into the Vmod floor? I just tried the blow test with 2 dozen different cartos and attys, including some stainless CE2 XL from 4/2011 and black CE2 shorts from 3/2011. Nothing can be blown through those pinholes, totally sealed off. Maybe they change the design now and then? How old are your CE2s? One old carto, a Summer 2010 Joye(?), had a passage. The connector was built different.

But of course it works. If the carto is loose, as shown here with a Boge that I know has zero passage through the pinholes, it will feed. How? If the carto is at all loose, juice leaks down into the catch cup and goes back up the main air tube. You can see all the yellow juice in the catch cup, and starting to leak out along the battery wire. I prefer feeding up top, but a little leaking is not the end of the world.

Re: Box Elder. Kaiiiili! I've got a few bottles. But that's not the end of the world either. Let's not play into "their" hand and over-react.

VMODians (and those who are perusing this thread),

Prolly many of you have heard about the issues with Box Elder's nic. Kurt has released his dramatic findings and this is the thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...on-we-have-problem-nic-titration-results.html

It would most likely be helpful to everyone to read this about the juices we use, and pass this information around.

I ran across this and read the whole thread when it first came out. Hadn't checked back to see the test results. This is scary!
