Jslay, could it be a loose coil problem? A section of coil that's not contacting the wick overheats for lack of cooling. My main concern has been the danger of breaking down glycerin in juice to acrolein. But if you vape PG you may not notice. Can you take off the mouthpiece and look down the barrel as you fire? On your VMOD. See if you have glowing coil sections. If you do, the device is defective and will fail quickly. It's like a dry-burn.

Thanks, both to you and Fernand. I'll try, again, with a new "hybrid BF", after tweaking the coils. Look for a follow-up before Halloween. If the atty I install tonight is still working, we've solved my problem. If you hear from me, on this thread, sooner, I'm still the dumb@$$ who can't use a VMOD.

jslay, if it is a loose coil issue, it is easily fixed. Just rearrange the coils (gently) with a tootpick or teeny screwdriver, something small... That seems to fix that issue usually. Good luck

Nope, not a dumb@$$, there seems to be a bad batch of atty's out there. That is one of the issues Brian is addressing over there this week. This is not acceptable to him as he stands behind his product. So hang tuff Jslay, it will get better :) :) :).. Nothing is perfect and I know this is frustrating. I've had a love/hate relationship w/my vmods. There was a time they almost hit the classy's, now they are back on everyday rotation ..

I can't imagine that it's the sitting too full ---- in fact, I find that they like to sit. Even the silo's!

Many suggest priming a new atty with several drops and let it sit for a bit before first use.

In addition to all the good tips above, Try dripping on that mesh instead of feeding and see if you notice a difference in the vape. You might learn how wet these atty's like to be. I've accused them of being juice hogs---but it might just be that I vape a lot with them!

That's what I thought, AG. I've just never heard of killing an atty or carto from "too MUCH juice".

AG, Fernand, et al, if the atty/carto is good, and the batts are good, what else might be wrong with a PV (not just the VMOD)? (More of a general question that specific to Jslay's issues)

jslay- you mentioned you never get a gurgling sounds. I do when I am bordering on over filling- so maybe these are underfed??
Another thought- what batteries are you using- protected / unprotected - new-ish / old.....? Do they work OK in another mod? Seems too wierd that you have bad batches of silos and attys..... since the VMod is nechanical- should be any issue there.

The only time I burned up attys was when I was new to attys. I was using another popular mod, which is known to have a difficult learning curve. Seemed like I would run it dry or overfeed it & have leaking into the box. Once you get the hang of where an atty needs to be it becomes second nature.

Hey all! Been away for a while - crazy busy - and need to catch up on the thread, but thought I'd ask.... Anyone hear any timeline for getting the 1.8 silos back in stock? The 2.2's are a little wimpy for my taste and need to order some other stuff from them, but was hoping to wait and be able to get it all in one shot.

Thanks!

Jslay, please try to look first for glowing before you in any way "rearrange" the atomizers. First you want to know if that's the cause of them failing. Secondly, pushing the wires around doesn't necessarily improve things, you can just as easily make them worse.

How long do you hold the butting down in the Vmod before you have a satisfactory cloud? Is it the same as on your previous rigs?

You say both atomizers and cartomizers have failed within 2 days? Now that is odd, as they are different designs. Have you tested them after failure with an ohmmeter? Have you verified that the positive contact post is not pushed in? It doesnt take much. I had all manner of defects in my unlucky batch and one was a DOA with a post that did not make contact in a 510 socket, but there was continuity if you checked with a meter. The post can be pulled out a bit with tweezers to make them work for a short while. If you pull the surrounding silicone rubber out a little as well, the repair is more lasting.
