Which of these e cigs is best?

Volt - Pros and Cons

+ small and easy to hold like a real cigarette
+ portable charging case looks awesome
- low battery performance

Provari - Pros and Cons

+ changing voltage with menu system
- costs a lot of $$$
- looks like it would be a hassle to go through the menu system
- the large size may be an issue

KGO - Pros and Cons

+ cost is very low
battery life is decent

What do you think?

All depends on your style and your level of vaping. The Provari is a great device but I would not recommend it to a novice and the KGO is a great device that I would highly recommend to a novice.

I have several mods including my newest one the Orion and I still use a KGO/EGO for work. It is small and compact for an office environment and the pocket.

Hi, Wayne! I think you pretty much said what is to be said. These are probably some of the better choices the three different categories of PVs (cig-style, mid-size and "APV"). It's the decision on the category that you'd still have to make; once made, the device you mentioned is an excellent choice for the category.

In general, the beginning vaper (like myself) is attracted by the cigarette form factor for obvious reasons. The downsides then may or may not become deal breakers - battery life is one, but maybe more important is the lack of flexibility. A lot of times, people simply need to go through the phase, and make that expenditure which may prove useless in hind sight; doesn't matter - you do what you have to do to get started.

The mid-size is more than likely to satisfy a lot of vapers forever. I take it that being on this forum decreases that likelihood just by means of abundance of temptations :)

For the APV class - well, they basically fall into three categories: plain battery tubes or boxes with mechanical or simple electrical switches, tubes or more likely boxes with same mechanical/electrical switch, but with some added functionality (bottom or top feed, special atomizer feeding, and more recently the "hybrids" with built-in rebuildable atomizer +/- repairable tank); and finally, those with some specialized electronics on board for protection, variable wattage/voltage, displays and counters, etc.

The lines are further blurred by the fact that there are now several mid-size models that do variable voltage, and that one can use an add-on like the Kick that provides protections and variable wattage to "dumb tube mods".

The point is that choosing between categories, might become less stringent as when one wants a particular function one is no longer limited to Mods. Say, you want swappable generic batteries - there is E-Power, which can be a mid-size, depending on model. Say you want variable voltage, there is a definitely mid-size Ego Twist that does that. Say you want an actual "Mod", but the classification leads you to believe they are always bigger - well, there are a lot of small ("stealth") mods out there that can't really be classified as anything else but mods...

So the term "APV" probably will become more confusing than helpful because (1) the mid-sizes become smarter some APVs and (2) it will continue to include plain, but fancy looking battery tubes right along with really smart and complex devices in one bag...

A special note on the ProVari: almost everyone who actually used one for a little realized that the "menu function" is much easier to use than it seems from reading the description :)

I'm re-reading my post and realize how useless it is. I shouldn't hit reply after having been out drinking anymore :(

You can do like most people and work your way to each stage in vaping. Start with an 808 volt, then move up to something larger like the X2, then a mod. Or skip ahead to a provari. I started with the Volt kit and love it. yes the battery doesn't last as long as a 2200mah found in the bigger tube mods, but they're bigger for a reason. Volt also offers the X2 in 650, 900, and 1300 mah sizes. I use the 900mah and have yet to have it die on me in a single day of vaping. You can use that battery with the 808 cartos, or use the clearomizers with the 1.6ml capacity. I have 3 types, the cigarette style 808 from volt, the X2, and an Apollo Vtube. Most of the day, or for portability I'm using the X2. Just a perfect size and amount of e-liquid for me. Can carry it anywhere without leaks or worry. I still use all 3 of my pv's, whether I want discreet portability, (808 cigarette style worked great in the midnight showing of The Avengers!) Or sitting around my pc, driving etc. I use the x2 or Vtube. It's all about preference.

......... I use the 900mah and have yet to have it die on me in a single day of vaping......

You must be an extremely light vaper if a 900 mAh battery lasts you an entire day. I consider a day from when someone gets up until they hit the sack, say from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., so 16 hours. My PV has twice the mAh rating as yours and it lasts me not quite that long using dual coil cartos that eat up more power. Plus I am a heavy vaper.

So when someone says a 900 mAh battery lasts a day, it really is misleading as to what that means when there is no context to it.

I started with a KGo but also now have a Provari. The KGo is great for starting out. KGo is simple and cheap but works very good. Provari is second to none. It allows fine tuning of the vape and has some nice features such as checking resistance. I use my Provari the most because well it is better by far. The Kgo I still use it and it comes in handy in certain situations. If I am out at a bar or in a public atmosphere I use my Kgo because it is smaller, lighter and easier to carry around. Also cheaper if it gets stolen or some drunk person spills their drink over it. I took both to the Carolina Rebellion rock concert last weekend where I camped for two day. I used my Provari at the campsite. In the festival I took my Kgo. Wasnt about to take an expensive piece of hardware near the mosh pit. And by the way, the menu is not hard at all on the Provari. I can change all the settings blindfolded now.

On my Kgo with 1100 mAh battery it last two day easy. I have even made it almost a third day before. My wife is a light vaporer and hers last her a week easy. She just doesn't use it much. My Provari has a 2000 mAh battery but only last half as long as my 1100 mAh Kgo battery.

I wish I'd started with my Provari V2. It didn't exist at the time, and even if it did.... I didn't have the money for that at the time. I do wish I'd've skipped the cig sized stage. That was so annoying having a battery die every 90 minutes.

I vape a lot. I can kill my 1100mah Provari battery in about 9 hours. I generally change them about every 5-6 hours.

I have the extension cap and 3 2000mah batterys in the mail. Almost time to haunt the mailman.

Then you need to write an article on the "miracle" that has occurred in the world of physics. Your statement defies the laws of physics and battery technology. 100 mAh = 1 hour of light vaping. You have been vaping not quite two months but have just made a "break-through" that the hundred of thousands who have vaped for years have some how missed. Please explain in detail how I can make a Kgo last almost three days and continue to vape as I currently do. I am sure that everyone on ECF would benefit from knowing how to do that not to mention physicists and engineers around the world.

So wv2win, what is an "extremely light vapor"? I go through about 2.5ml a day and my 650mah last me 4am-7pm. That's a full day for me. Sheesh guy...this is the new members forum. You can be informative without being a jerk. I haven't been around long but I'd expect this on other forums and have come to expect better from ECF'ers

Sorry to tell you but that is just how it is. I got many of my friends on the Kgo and they all confirm it last a good two days. I am not sure how much they vape though. I doesn't take a physicists or even a vaping expert to count hours or days. All I know is that the Kgo was advertised as 1100 maH. My 18650 battery has 2000 mah written on it. When I first got the kgo I also heard about one hour per 100 mah so I expect it to die quick but the damn thing just keeps going and won't die. Why I don't know. It just does. All four kgo batteries I have have tested. Some I tested more than once. My wife because she vapes very little uses one kgo battery for an entire week before ever charging it.

    All over the place
I have all three. My Volt is dusty, my K-go hasn't needed a charge in many weeks, and my Provari is always warm...from my hands! You can do the math! However, that Volt sure did make life fun while it was all I had. I loved that little guy and SteelJan for showing me the way for a beginner!

p.s. I think the level of supervision on responses should be a little more sensitive than on the regular forums. High and mighty/ uber snobish remarks are why it took me so long to actaully make my first post, though I never received any after I made my first post. Someone with so much experience that is insulted by others with very little shouldn't even be here "advising", in my opinion.

Just dial it back a little!

"Best" is a subjective term regardless of the subject. Best for who? You, me, the other person?.

This is what made my decision: for work, the largest unit that's comfortable to tote around in my pocket is an eGo with carto and 650 mah battery - so this is what I use. For home, size is not as important so I may someday get one of the gigantic beasts that weigh 3 lbs and need a car battery to fire. Seriously, what is best for you requires you to think about how it will fit into your daily routine...

Not much of a light vaper, I went through about 2-3ml yesterday on a single charge. Yes, all day. Allow me to defy the laws of physics.
