Does it have variable voltage? What metal is it machined from?
As far as it being unique by being UK made, isn't the Screwdriver you've sold for years made in England? Is this from the same company? It looks rather similar.
How long until they show up in the US ? Overseas shipping and conversion rates from pounds to dollars being what it is, puts this just a tad out of my budget right now.
Forgot about the Mako and Don. Aren't they made in the UK as well?
Please don't get me wrong. This looks like a nice PV and I'm interested in adding it to my collection but I'd like to know what makes it special. What I'm seeing thus far is the manufacturer's excitement and pride in having brought a project to fruition. That in itself isn't enough reason for me to buy it. Note to vendor: when you write an ad, read each of your statements as though you're the customer saying to himself; "why is this important to me?"
I've got quite a few mods from England...the Touchwood, mako, don, and an original Trog screwdriver. It's not in my sig line since I no longer use it. It still works fine, and I have no intention of getting rid of it. It was one of my first mods and it got plenty of use back in its day. I just figured it earned a quiet retirement.
The Odyssey, and correct me if I'm wrong Ms. W, is a straight up mechanical mod using 14500 batteries (I assume protected, but it could be IMR). It appears to come with a carto tank which uses existing flanged dual coil cartos. It appears to be fixed voltage and comes with a rather neat little tank filler accessory. Aside from aesthetics, it won't do anything more than any other device in it's class. But it's the aesthetics that make me want to buy one. It looks like a very worthy successor to the venerable SD. I haven't seen any info on safety features, but that doesn't mean there aren't any.
Edited to add Update: Well scratch that part about not being able to swing it. Forgot I had some bucks in my PayPal account that's been sitting there begging to be spent. It says possibly shipping around the end of the month, so when I get it in I'll put it through it's paces and see if it's worth the $137 I just paid for it. Gotta love the value (or lack thereof) of the good ol' American dollar.
Got mine in yesterday and it's impressive so far. A good solid 3.7v mechanical mod. The tank design is quite nice as well. I'll do a full review after a few weeks. So far it's lived up to expectations
