OP, Concept mods thread. :smokie:

I think it would be fun to start a thread for people to post pic/ideas of things we see that would perhaps make a good mod. Kinda like at the Detroit Auto Show.
Please post pics when ever possible. The pics could be anything from a wooden block to a flashlight to a nose hair trimmer. Anything that you think could/should or shouldn't be modded. And of course if you do mod it, post the before/after pics. (or just a photoshopped rendering of the finished concept mod).

I'll try to get pics up later, but I saw a couple things at the Dollar Tree up the road that are dying to become PVs.

One is a 1X AA electric toothbrush. I figure just pop off the end, remove the motor and replace it with an atty connector. It's already got a momentary pushbutton and the space for a 14500.

The other is a small "Nail Shaper" or somesuch. It's like an extremely underpowered dremel. Again, it's powered by one AA. Same idea - remove the motor, replace it with an atty connector, swap the AA for a 14500 and you're set.

Obviously, I don't know how the circuits look in these, or if they have anything other than basic wiring, but I'll probably pick up one of each to try out. Heck, if you get an atty connector from Good Prophets, that's a quick and easy $2 mod. I have to admit - I'm a bit excited to try it out. May make a decent "giveaway" mod for converting friends and family. Good battery life and it would look decent enough to use in public. May want to add a master on-off switch, but that may not be a requirement.

Also looking at an old 2X AA name-brand electric toothbrush. May be able to use a single 14500, maybe put a 3ml bottle in the other compartment and add some tubing and a needle and have a decent little bottom-feeder. However, I'll bet the name brand version probably has a more robust circuit. Still, I'd certainly expect that one to be waterproof (unless you went the bottom-feeder route), depending on how the atty connector is done.
