So my new gear is in. I have to put in a good word for vape Club - everything was delivered to me here in Malta from the UK in about 48 hours.

I'm basically delighted with everything - the iTaste MVP including the tank that came with it, the Kanger genitank, the eGo and the clearomizer that came with it. All vape very well and are a pleasure. But then I test drove the wickless EC5 which I bought as a spare for the eGo and ewww! The taste is absolutely horrendous. It feels like a burnt taste but probably even worse than that. Is there any way to try to fix it?

Maybe not. There is a long and boring story behind the "wickless CE5"

ecigwizard were one of the first shops to sell them and everybody hated them. They took a massive hammering on facebook and guy who worked for ecigwizard went mad saying there was nothing wrong with them. (and then agreeing they were a bit hit and miss)

They possibly take ages to "prime" due to the design.

Back in the day after the ce's people really got into the iclears and protank minis for a while.

And do not judge yourself too harshly, I as well as many many others have been there and done that.

When I finally moved to rebuildables full time I gave my friend a box that must have weighed 10 lbs. Full of just about every clearo, carto and tank available at the time. Once ya hit your groove its all good.

Always try to think- that's a 3 dollar clearo I'm tossing, could a been another ashtray full of butts instead.

Oh well - there goes another arc to my learning curve! Thanks guys. So what clearo would you suggest I get for my Ego?

iClear16 is an old favourite. They last ages. Not great, but reliable. £3.49

iClear 16 Dual Coil Clearomiser - Clearomizers

Aspire K1 might be a good choice, if it's not powerful enough on the Ego, you can use it on the MVP.

Actually, if you are in no rush...

Try googling "Authentic Innokin iClear 16 Top Coil Clearomizer (1.6ml) FASTTECH"

I could send you some tanks next week if you want to try a few small ones.

I can probably find some iClears and mini Protanks. My box of spares must be full of them.

I have 5 EVODs, but I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy. Keep them still, they are fine.
Go walking or cycling or playing golf and, well.... might as well pour liquid down the sink.

Basically the old single coils Kangers liked to leak and dry-hit. I think you now know what a dry-hit is..

Wow thanks both! I can get either of these from VapeClub. The major difference I see between them is that the protank is pyrex whilst the iClear is bigger.

One final question, if I were to get a protank would the coils I bought for the GeniTank fit or would I need separate coils for that?

If you mean the Aspire CE5 that uses the Aspire BDC or BVC coil they can be used. Otherwise, they would not have continued to sell so well for so long. First, make sure the coil is BVC, not BDC. They do not have the glass and metal of other clearos. Thus, there is nothing to absorb the heat. They can be vaped at 3 to a max of 4 volts. Use a very slow and soft inhale. Anything else will cause it to burn quickly. A 50/50 juice works well. I have used CE5s for several months as they bring out the taste in one particular juice where 6 much more expensive clearos have failed.
