Hey everyone. Well, just over a month with my joye510, and like many others, I think I'd like to try an upgrade like a battery mod. Perhaps the chuck or little chuck? I keep reading 5v is the sweet spot for favor production and flavor richness, but some also believe 3.7v from the little chuck is just as good as 5v. Those chucks are also a little expensive, though it seems the owners would definitely say it's worth it. Are all the high voltage ones huge? I care a little less now about the unconventional look, but curious. Anyhow, any suggestions for the next step forward would be awesome. Thanks everyone! :D

Hmm, if expense is your primary concern, you might wanna go with a box mod - you can make one yourself if you've got spare time/tools. You can probably tell from my sig, but yeah I'd recommend a Chuck - you can run 6v with it, which is a hell of a lot better than 3.7 IMO.

For 5V you can go with a Prodigy, GLV, Detonator, or rig one yourself - there's a ton of info on the modders forum for that. Be advised, the Xhaler is another mod that claims to run 5v, but that has yet to be shown. Whatever you pick, have fun!

It was a toss up for me between the chuck and the xhaler. After Drew from nhaler called me when I asked a question off the nhaler website on a Sunday afternoon (10 minutes after I posted the question) I decided that the xhaler was for me.

Another option for you may be a USB passthrough. From what I understand they vape at 5v.

I did get the USB passthru when I bought my 510 and I love it. It's great for late nights of gaming on the weekend! Seems like about same performance of a well charged battery at all times.

If you are brand new to mods, the simple truth is that you can't possibly know what you like yet outside of atomizer type. You should probably just take the plunge and pick one to get a baseline feel so you can start to formulate opinions on what features, weight, button placement, build materials, finish, voltage, and dimensions fit your life. The sad truth is that we all play favorites. Even someone that has used a ton of mods might like one that has a single issue that bothers you. That being said there are plenty of options right now for a sub-100 dollar battery mod. Any of the recommendations in this thread have been good. Hope this helps.

I am debating between the Chuck and the Xhaler. So, no proof of 5V yet? I am curious what vaping at 6V is like. All I have is a 510 right now. I know some people say they don't like it because of a burning taste. Do you get that at all?

In total agreement with this.

Another one to consider is the Bartleby. For $50 +$2.50 for a USB cable, it comes with 2 batteries and is a bargain, imo. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/video-reviews/43943-bartleby-pv-review.html
