So I am about a week in to vaping. Happy to say that I have not had a single urge to go back to analogs with the exception of the 1st morning. I have tried V2, Fuse, Halo, and I settled on Green Smoke. What I liked most about Green Smoke was the draw. I guess Green Smoke draws the air from the tip, and the other brands draw the air from where the carto connects to the battery. It is crazy, but Green Smoke has a smoother draw than an actually cigarette lol.

After watching some YouTube vids, and spending about 2 secs on this site, I think I might want to move away from Cig-alikes. I really like the taste of the e-liquids, and I guess a tank (its called a tank, right?) is a far superior way to taste the flavor. And I also think it would be nice to have a battery last the entire day. I watched some videos on mechanical vapes, but I am not ready for all of that lol. So I think I just want to get a tank. I had a few questions, though. Any help would be appreciated...

So I love the smooth draw of Green Smoke. Will a tank have a better, worse, or the same draw? And by smooth I mean the ease of which you can draw and still produce a good hit. Not necessarily the length of the hit, but the ease of it. All other brands except GS I had to pull harder than a normal cig. Will this be the case with a tank?

I was thinking about getting the Halo Triton kit. Does anyone have experience with the Triton? Man, I love Halo's Tribeca. They have a cool website, and they are not owner by big tobacco... yet.

Any other tips or advice on tanks?

Also, the cig-alike carto gets hot sometimes while taking a hit. Does this happen with tanks?

Start off with a local shop they will provide good info. Also you want a tank its the easiest fill it up and go . Right now i have a tesla mod i bought a starter kit for $80 had 2 batteries charger and the tesla. And got 2 aerotanks and i have to say its quite impressive with vv/vw - variable voltage / variable wattage you really get to find the sweet spot. Diff juice vapes diff i found having control makes smooth transitions from juices. Also with the aerotank i can adjust the air flow . Easy draw down to sucking on ice cream threw a straw. The mod itself i dont think matters find one u like but to start look for vv/vw mods. And tanks. Those are all personal preference . Ego ce tanks give crap flavor and are hard hard pulls. I just fell inlove with my setup .

Edit* forgot to mention ... Youtube! Youtube reviews on everything before you even consider buying it. Its a great way to see pros and cons at a glance.

My vote would be for a Mini Protank or an Aero Tank, and a Vision Spinner battery.

The Mini Protank has an open draw that many people moving on from cigarettes don't like, whereas the Aerotank is adjustable. It's worth noting that the strength of the draw affects how much liquid is drawn onto the wick, so you really need the adjustable battery to be able to tailor the power to the amount of liquid. Otherwise with a light draw you may find you are burning the liquid.

The step beyond there would be a 22mm tank such as the Nautilus with an MVP. But that may be a step too far for you at the present, and the MVP3 has been announced but not yet released, so it's probably worth waiting.

I don't think most vapers vape 20+w... on this site its different.. lots of enthusiasts chasing the perfect vape. The MVP3 is 30w and construction is different than the 2 or 20w. If it were me I'd wait for a while and let the youtube reviewers it and see how it does over time. the MVP20w can take a beating and still works and lasts many a day and a half or two days. You can charge on the go.
These higher powered devices (compared to egos) are a definite step up from egos. I tell people starting out to start here because its better than ego, and if your visiting this site you will likely want to upgrade from ego soon.. lol But if you've been happy with cigalikes, an ego setup may be fine. Ego's are usually $20 a piece and you should buy 2 as most don't allow you to charge and vape.
The iStick is well reviewed but you have to be gentle with the 510 connector - where you screw in the tank. On the iStick I'd probably wait for reviews on the new version they just put out. eLeaf (makers of iStick) said they fixed many of the problems people complained about on the v1.

For a tank, one of the best is the Aspire Nautilus with the BVC heads. It's got AFC (air flow control) so you can tighten it up or go wide open for a restrictive lung hit.

The nautilus with the iStick or MVP20w you can buy online for around $80, which is the cost of most Ego starter kits, but you will enjoy the APV setup much more.

These tanks are commonly referred to as clearomizers. some are disposable but most these days take replaceable heads (usually around $1 a head). The aspire heads people seem to be getting several weeks out of. Last I heard the pro tank heads will only last you a week.

I've seen people on here post about the triton tank, and it seems like a decent setup.
GREAT call staying away from mechanical mods for now!
Let me know if any of this doesn't make sense and we can clear that up for you :)

If you are looking for an upgraded setup here are some possible options for you to consider:

A variable v/w (twist/spinner) is usually recommended over a "non variable" v/w battery. It allows you to adjust your settings to get a better "vape". Some flavors taste better at higher voltages than 3.7v

1. JoyeTech Ego-C Twist
2. Vision Spinner
3. Innokin iTaste vv v3 (or the new vv v4 - 750mah or 1000mah)
4. Innokin iTaste MVP v2 (or even better an MVP 20 watt)
5. eLeaf iStick 20watt (or even better 30 watt)

The first 3 are fall into the "ego style" category of battery (with variable voltage). They range in size from 600mah to 1300mah. The higher the mah the longer the battery will last between charging.

The 4th & 5th ones are a step up from an "ego style" battery in that they are smaller variable v/w box mods with a very big battery (2400-2600mah). It will last many vapers a whole day before it needs recharging. The MVP is probably one of the most popular batteries for someone upgrading from an "ego style" battery. The iStick is also very popular.

I suggest buying only name brand Joyetech Twist or Vision Spinner ego batteries if you choose to go this route. BTW, "ego" is merely a type of battery, not a brand name. Buying "generic" ego batteries is always going to be hit or miss...mostly miss.

You will also need to purchase a tank and extra coils. The mini or full sized Nautillus, mini Aerotank or regular size Aerotank (all made of glass & all have adjustable airflow control) are very popular.

Why would you want a glass tank (you may be thinking to yourself)? Here is a great resource regarding "tank cracking" eliquid by ECF member Baditude: Something Safe for Cinnamon and Citrus Flavors

^Lots of good advice (I SWEAR Ive seen this before :p)
Again, I'd start with better than ego (APV - Advanced Personal Vaporizer) as you can get the setup at about the same cost and get a much better vape. Night and day difference.

    Vapor Cigarette 650 | Tastypuff

This is the kit that started my Vape journey. I bought one of these at the smoke shop in town for less than the company is selling the same thing online, but still, 20 bucks is definitely in my price range. :) It seems that this company accompanies the 'e-cig' with a free bottle (small probably, 12mL), so this online deal probably costs less than what I paid in total (the vaporizer and a bottle of juice) at the physical store. Note that this kit doesn't have as many 'accessories' as other starter kits. There is only one battery and a charger with this one. No case, extra battery, extra whatever. With light - medium use, the 650mAh battery might last all day before needing to be charged. The 1.6mL tank on this vaporizer is equal to about 5-7 tobacco cigs, but comparing vaporizers to analog cigs is such an apples/oranges thing..

I was a half pack a day smoker at most... 650 non vv ego wouldn't last me all day. Didn't open the link, but if it doesn't have pass through charging you will want a second to vape while your dead one is charging... And maybe a third for a backup unless it's joyetech or vision... Tons of low quality egos out there for cheap

That one doesn't have a pass- thru, so I might agree that a second battery is needed. I have two 650's, one is the original so it's a bit more than 3 months old (less the time it spent in the package..) and the second 650 is about 2 months old. They both last me about 4-5 hours, depending on how often I use them. But yeah, OP, I would certainly recommend a second battery, and I should have in my earlier post.

Here is a great kit i got for my wife when i got her to switch its from cvapor.com a china based company, shipping takes about 7 business days but the savings is worth it and their customer service is top notch plus enter happy2015 for an extra 8% off makes this a great deal.

..while your dead one is charging...

or equate that to being out of smokes and driving to the store to buy another pack.. although sometimes you might say to yourself, "I thought the place was right around the corner..":laugh::laugh:
