Alright, I've been vaping for about a month and a half using an ego twist and an evod tank. I've been rebuiliding the coils on my evod when they get gunked up. I like how this combo works, but I want to get a re-buildable tank and a mechanical mod. Can anybody give me suggestions as to what combo i should look into getting?

The choice depends upon form factor (tube or box mod) and mechanical or regulated mod.

May I ask why you want a mechanical over a regulated (variable voltage) mod? You can most certainly use a regulated mod with an RBA or RDA. A mechanical mod is limited to the single voltage of your battery and has no built-in safety features, important to note for a new vapor not fully aware of battery or mod safety practices (which you should learn before you choose a mod).

Regulated mods have built-in safety features to help keep you out of trouble. They also allow you to adjust the power output of your device to adjust voltage to each specific flavor you may use. They also have built-in voltage and ohm meters and LED displays to provide you with information.

I'm worried about going up the ladder...it might make me feel I should keep vaping because I spent so much money...I would like to quit period!

There's nothing wrong with vaping! I use 0mg nicotine now and do it for the flavor and enjoyment! :D

As stated, if you want a bottom fed system, it's all about the Reo.

If you want a genisis or just the cheapest option then I'd suggest the Smoktech Magneto and a Smoktech RSST genisis RBA. The whole set up, batteries and charger included, could cost you as little as $100. Didn't think about it when I bought it but they are conveniently from the same manufacturer...

Anyway, the Magneto and RSST will run about $80, probably with shipping if you look hard. I would suggest Steam Monkey if you want it fast and cheap. Shipping included they have the best price I found on the Magneto and the RSST is $33.

Batteries and charger are what really determine the over/under $100. If you're going sub ohm I would suggest the Sony US18650VTC3 30Amps. You can find them for between $7 and $18 depending on where, and when, you get them. FT currently has a 2 pack for $11.34, but be aware that you'll wait about a month for them to arrive. East Side Vapors has a decent deal on them right now too at $11 each. For the charger Pila is the big boy, but it's like $50. A Nitecore i2 is between $10 and $15 and will work just fine.

Can't really advise on anything else personally. This is the only mech setup that I own. Only other thing I can say is avoid the Sigelei #19 as there are a lot of problems associated such as reports of the button arcing and shocking your finger.

I suggest a regulated mod and either an rsst or an aga T2. Get a charger on the cheap and some batteries. On the cheap would be some effest batteries and a trustfire 001 charger. Then your next purchase would be the mechanical mod you will already have some batteries a charger and some knowledge of rebuildables. I started my quest with a vamo v2 and the stuff above and now 3 regulated devices later and about 8 low end and high end mechanicals I'm in deep lol

I believe I read that FastTech is no longer shipping batteries overseas due to new restrictive regulations.

I did too, but I've heard from many that they just get put on the slowboat because they can't be air-mailed. I'll know soon enough since I ordered some right as that regulation was being pushed through and didn't know about it.

My roommate has been vaping for a while and he gave me the rundown when it comes to battery safety in mechanicals. He has both a mechanical zen and a hana dna20 mod, and i prefer the way that his zen vapes compared to the hana. i like the button action on his zen as well. With that being said i am not against vw's, especially the fact that you can fiddle with the wattage. I have done some research on them and if i were to get one, it would most likely be the MVP. Also, it seems that mechanical mods seem to be on the cheaper side of the spectrum when it comes to mods. Thanks for the input!

Thanks much appreciated!

A lot of this would depend on how big of a mech mod you want to get. Lots of them are either telescopic or have extension tubes that allow for using different sized batteries. They vary in design and button placement, and one thing you would need to determine is how you want to fire the button. Another consideration would be the type of contacts that are used for the batteries, as different materials and coatings will give better voltage load and reduce voltage drop. Ultimately, they are all essentially the same type of tube mods, if you are going that route, and the best one would be one that you feel comfortable using.
As for the tank setup, if you've been rebuilding evod's, then you would be fine rebuilding the Protanks, DBox Puritank, Davide, or any of the bottom fed tanks.
The one place that you should not skimp on is the batteries and the charger. These two things often get overlooked by new vapers, but are essential in having a solid experience. Some batteries that I use and can recommend are the MNKE's in 18650, AW's in 18650 or 18350, Sony's in 18650 at 30A discharge if you are going to use a mechanical, and then the Efest in 18650 or 18350. For the charger, get a solid charger that shows charging rate for each individual battery, not just the channels together. Nitecore makes solid chargers, as does Jetbeam.
The choice on this is always up to you, but your best bet would be to visit a few shops if you can and try the feel and weight of the different mods, and ask the people in the shops about the setups that they use.
Happy vaping.

A good starter for you might be either the K100 or K101. I have the 101, as well as lots of high end mechanicals, and I still love the solid hit of the K101. And, these can often be found as kits, which give you two batteries, 18650 and 18350, a charger, a case, and a cartomizer and drip shield. I usually use these with my RDA's, but have also thrown an iClear30 or DBox Puritank on top and it fits well in a pocket in 350 mode, and produces lots of vapor for the charge on the battery.
Another good suggestion would be the Smok Galileo, as it uses a magnetic firing button, has an adjustable center pin and accepts ego threaded tanks as well as 510 threads, and is telescopic for whatever battery you choose to use.
These are a pretty good deal, and a quick google search will turn up shops that have them for sub $40, and even offer free shipping.

If you want to go low $ to see if this is something you want to pursue go to FastTech and search for mod battery compartment there are what seems like a hundred. Read the reviews and find something you like. Don't buy their batteries you don't know if they are real or fake; go to RTD vapor. Read Baditudes blog at http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-tips-vapors-looking-try-their-first-rba.html and enjoy the rebuildables it is contagious.

Thanks! I've been looking at the k101 starter pack from fasttech for a while. I just wasnt sure if fasttech was a reliable vendor, and it seems they are except for their batteries. I just thought i would get some different opinions on what to get, also i had to get to my 5 posts as well, lol.

Rsst all the way for the first go round if you decide to shy away from the bottom fed route.

2nd the RSST. I prefer the bcc (eVod,Protank,Davide) but enjoy the ease of build the RSST provides. I also purchased the Magoo (ithaka clone). After two weeks I still use the stock 2.2ohm coil, and after 2 cleanings the thing works flawlessly. However, I know a coil change is in order, and the use of nr-r-nr coil is mandatory.

I know you have heard this before, but I recently bought a Provari and could not be more satisfied. I don't throw money around lightly,so don't have a lot of gadgets. I went from Blu,to egos,to Vamo and now the Provari. I wish I had skipped the Blu and Vamo, but both led me to this point, what vaping is supposed to be like. I feel comfortable with the year warranty and knowing I can get it repaired here in the USA. I don't need anything else, but if I were to get a back up to my Provari,it would be another Provari. I have only had it 4 weeks, but am very happy with it.
