I like the way the public debate is shaping up. This is an incredibly good piece of PR for e-cigarettes.
Associated content is just a community forum. At least it shows up in google news, so maybe a few people will happen upon these articles.
The LA Times article will reach far more people.
I'm optimistic that they won't get away with it this time. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
according to one article a read on here at least one senator threatened a fillibuster if they tried to ban them. so maybe it won't pass
Yes, and that one was quite positive too. The attempt at scare tactics appears to be fizzling.
That puts me in an awkward mental position. I hate filibusters because IMO they're a betrayal of the democratic process.
it's being sponsored by a tobacco company? hypocrisy at its best!
What?! Filibusters are what prevents a tyranny of the bare majority. That puts me in an awkward mental position. I hate filibusters because IMO they're a betrayal of the democratic process.
a bunch of SCUMBAGS is what they are. It's an unholy alliance of tobacco and pharma companies. Nasty business.
"The legislation will require research into alternative tobacco products. However,".
*Slaps head* Coulda had a V8
That's the Waxman Bill, aka The Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, H.R. 1256I didn't see any Congressman or Senator's names attached to the article the OP linked to. Just more scare journalism. Every bill that is put thru the House or Senate has a sponsor (or more likely, several). Who is the sponsor of this bill?
