Always say no... Have to break people's association of cloud = smoking = bad. I don't want to offend anyone, and was always very careful with my smoke, but when someone's offended that they see my cloud of vapor, it annoys me. If they got close enough to smell it, they'd notice it smells like vanilla or something else pleasant, and not smoke, but just seeing it gets their fires going... annoying!

"Do you smoke?"

I never really know what to say. I mean technically no... but sometimes it's just easier to say yes.
:p

I pay $50 a month extra for insurance premiums so that I maintain the privilege to smoke. There will be no misunderstandings if I end up in hospital, regardless of how the insurance company sees it. How they see it is most important. Not what we think.

Yeah, have to agree -- I am a non-smoker. Yes, I still consume nicotine and yes it is in a form that resembles smoking, but nicotine ≠ tobacco, vapor ≠ smoke. Sure, it can be kind of cumbersome to explain and can take a fair amount of convincing for those who can't separate nicotine from cigarettes, but it's a critical distinction to make, and one that is worth making.

The e-cig has gained quite a bit of exposure over the last year .. even TV ads .. many folks know what it is, IOW .. so, "Do you smoke .. ?? " .. "Why no, I use a personal vaporizor, known by some as an electronic cigarette .."

Now, if I were applying for a job and there was blood testing involved, I'd have to say yes if the possibility of testing finding nicotine in my test existed .. otherwise, you might appear to be lying ..

Unfortunately you can't say anything that will make someone smoke. Nor can you say anything that will make someone quit.
