Greetings, and hope everyone's having a great Sunday!

I've been to a lot of local vape shops and tried the various e-liquids they have as a sampler/tester. To me the taste is almost non-existent with little to no differentiation between flavors and brands. Perhaps it's because:
1. I still have "Smoker's Tongue" and my taste buds have still not fully recovered from 20+ years of analogs.
2. The clearo's these shops use are those cheap, throwaway plastic things.
3. The PG/VG ratios are more heavy towards VG.
4. Nicotine levels are anywhere from 0-3 mg. I vape 6-12 mg.

Went to a vape shop yesterday to pick up some juices and noticed they had King's Crown 'Fight Your Fate'. Tasted nowhere near what it should have in my present equipment. Tried the entire line of Suicide Bunny as well with the same results. Did produce an impressive amount of vapor, though.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Some of the flavors that I have tried from vape shops I have to take home and use in all my drippers and tanks and really take a minute to inhale slowly to get a really

good accesment of what it really tastes like. I always seem to be in a rush to try all the flavors in akind of a hurry while talking to sales people and other customers.

Sometimes the cheap plastic clearomizers have been sitting there a while and have gotten stale.......just my observations......

if I vape awhile on certain flavors they become likable after I get used to them also.......

I expect to taste something that is in my face and really powerful but such a juice would become too much if I tried to vape all day long........

more personal observations........YMMV----your mileage may vary..........

I have and that is why I went DIY route. Until I figured out that it all has to do with the setup that is used. Any variation in equipment from watts, airflow, ohm of coil, to the way the coil is built determines how the flavor tastes to you. That is why most people say it tastes nothing like it did in the store as most people are running different mods and such. The best way to taste juices is to have an RDA and just sample it on your own mod. Only if that's what you use. Kind of a catch 22 there. I would say it would be the mix of 1 (based only on how long you have been exclusively vaping) and 2. If you have just recently started vaping, I would suggest Unflavored as to not be disappointed from flavor or lack there of. I remember when I first started, all flavors seemed mute to me as well. I went to unflavored and that is what helped me kick the stinkies to the curb for good. After I only vaped exclusively, is the point where I liked flavors and could also pick up the flavors better in the setups that the B&M had although they were still muted compared to my RDA. What set up are you using currently?

I agree that I'm guilty of trying too many juices in too short a time. And yes, there are a few flavors that I didn't like at first, but soon grew to love.

Currently I have two set-ups. An MVP 2 with the included iClear 30 @2 ohms and Joyetech eGo One 2200 @1 ohm. I haven't tried the other .5 ohm coil that was also included in the kit. The 1 ohm coil is still going strong, even after a week and a half.

The MVP's tank is not as good as the eGo One's, but still creates good flavor. The eGo One's atomizer is much more efficient and I get much better flavor and vapor production. Another thing I've noticed is that the lower a person goes on resistance, the more juice you use. This is why I'm now looking at shops with 50 ml sizes or larger. Heck, I may even go the subscription route.

Yes, lower ohms = more juice consumption as the coil gets hotter and takes longer to cool down. You also get better flavor though with lower ohm coils as it atomizes the juice better. I have seen some of the local "B$M's" (yes pun intended) are staring to carry larger bottles of juice. The one by me is carrying 120 ml bottles now as more people are using sub ohm tanks and consuming more juice. Have you ever thought of making your own juice? You could be vaping for pennies on the dollar. Just a suggestion. If you want your coils to last longer, you could do flavorless as they do not contain any flavors to gunk up the coil. My flavored juices burn through coils in a week or two but unflavored, they last me about a month to month and a half.

I would look to an Aspire Nautilus to up the flavor once your taste buds get settled. Took mine a good while. In the mean time, maybe bold, blatant flavors like peppermint.

My coils are all around 1 ohm of resistance. Kinda the best of both worlds.

As to juices, I am 99% on-line. If a shop is selling only 3mg, that is probably for the super low sub-ohm cloud makers. Yes, it will burn juice and, although, the mg content is low, you are getting a lot of juice/vapor on your draw. I would go up in resistance and up in nic to find your happy spot.

Like everything else, juice will be a lot cheaper on line. I get samplers and record my score so I don't buy the same again. But, if your taste is still behind, well, I went for bold flavors.

Good luck!

Yes. You need to see if they will do drops on YOUR own RDA. Present an RDA to them and see what they say...should be alright. I use an Aspire Atlantis II tank for almost all my vaping but carry an RDA when I go to shops just in case they have a bad setup.

Running the Smok tfv4 on an Ipv 3Li. A week into vaping i had no taste of flavors at all. It was really disappointing but that seems to have gone away. I can never really find flavors that "pop" though, they all seem to have average taste. Currently vaping Happy Rancher from mt baker with THREE extra flavor shots and its pretty good but nothing crazy. Menthol flavors are really tasteful to me, I have a giant bottle of Black Ice coming tomorrow. Menthol is the way to go for me, but i smoked a pack of Marb Menthol 100's a day, so menthol might not be for you.
Personally i dont think you can get more flavor from a tank than this one, it beats the subtank mini as i havent touched it much since i got the smok. Rda's are another story though.
