The center pin is a two piece system - the post for the kanthal screws into the deck, and contacts a spring, that is in turn connected to the center pin.
I have since removed the spring and pin assembly, and soldered a copper wire from the center of a 220v power cord.
I cut the copper to the desired length, and passed i through the delrin mount.
The difference is nigh and day. If it had a screw on top, it would replace my DID as my daily driver.
