Hello guys, I have recently experience the dreaded 'Check Atomiser' error message when I accidentally knocked my vt40 against my table. From what I know, this error message appears when there's a short somewhere (either in the atomiser or in the mod) or this could also be a grounding issue.
Advice on what to do when there's a check atomiser error is based on a dna40 chip hcigar vt40.
dna Chip as used in VT40 by Hcigar
The chip on the left is a regular Dna40 chip. What we will be looking at is the smaller rectangular chip on the right. The grounding point of the chip is the small silver lug at the bottom of the chip (As circled in red) This lug is then connected to the exterior (in my case of vt40, there's a small screw on my c frame)
Grounding screw circled in red.
This is the exterior of the c-frame of vt40. I've managed to solve the check atomiser problem by loosening and then tightening the screw (might not be a permanent solution) A more permanent solution (for when I'm free) is to resolder the ground connection point on both the chip and the exterior screw
I have no experience with other mod but this are the steps I can advise for majority of the regulated mods,
1. Locate the ground connection on the chip
2. Trace where the wire is connecting from the ground connection.
3. check visually (by using a plier and gently moving the wire to see if it's loose) or check the wire with a multimeter (a better method)
4. See if there's any grounding screw (Try to adjust it and see if it work)
5. If all else can't fix, you may have to resolder the grounding wire
Annex: Yihi chip
Yihi Sx330
Advice for the yihi chip is the same as for DNA40 chip.

In the instance of my Ipvd2, my ground connection was from the chip to the 510 connector.
Hope this can help you guys troubleshoot your check atomiser error. Will update if there's a more permanent fix. Sharing this because you know for our country if there's anything wrong with our stuff we can't send it back for warranty. We can only be self-sufficient and rely on ourselves.
Update 1:
Forgot to mention about the other reason for 'check atomiser' error. Another cause of the 'check atomiser' error is because there's a short in your atomiser (meaning a REAL check your friggin' atomiser)
Reasons why your ATOMISER is giving you problems.
1. Your post screw has loosen and your coil leg is not making good contact
2. Your post has loosen and it's wobbling
3. Your coil leg has broken
4. Your coil is touching positive block or the chimney
5. Your atomiser 510 screw is not making contact with the mod's 510 connector.
6. There's too much juice in your deck/chimney thus reducing the electrical conduction of your post.
7. Your PEEK insulator is gone/melted/koyak/kababom
TL;DR - Check atomiser error may be caused by bad grounding. Grounding connection is from the chip's (regardless of dna or yihi) GND to any exterior point of the mod (510 connector or a screw that linked to the outside of the mod) or it's a true check atomiser in which case, check your bloody atomiser/coils
