Not sure if this is the appropriate place or not as it pertains to cartos-tanks-eliguid- APV-Vamo

Any how I have been running into an issue when my set up heats up. I have been vaping primarily on OMFG Tobacco from Kalamazoo Vapor shop which is supposed to be pretty good. It is 18% 70% Pg 30% Vg. I am vaping from a 19mm IBT Carto tank with 1.8-2.0 Ohm Smok single coil carto at about 7.5-9.5 watts on a SS Vamo (RMS mode).

The issue is when the liquid/ carto heat up above room temperature the throat hits starts to get harsh and sting and make me cough. I have tried adjusting down the Watts but it only goes away when they are way down and it starts to taste funny. I vape about 3ml a day. Any thoughts? What am i Doing wrong?

Honestly not to sure. There are a couple of things that could cause this. 1 You need more water intake. 2 The carto is drying out as you use it and you are getting dry hits (burning the wicking material instead of the e-juice). 3 Bad carto's. I'm sure there are more possibilities but I can't think of them at the moment.

Maybe just try a different carto or it could be your voltage is too high (sorry am not versed in watts) and your PV isnt registering it. Well just a thought LOL.. im fairly new to vaping. But i have had my wicks burn real bad and it did sting my throat a lot. The taste was utterly horrible too. Have you tried other than carto's?

As Silent stated, it could be a number of things. From a numbers standpoint (ohms, wattage) you have it set up the same as a majority of vapers. Same with the 18mg nic strength liquid. As Silent mentioned, make sure your carto is moist at all times to eliminate dry hits. Here are some other options to try:

1. Increase the amouth of VG which mutes throat hit and flavor to a degree
2. Try a fresh carto
3. Decrease the nic level to say 16mg

Good Luck

I drink lots of water always have. I have a couple different tanks with different flavors I rotate throughout the day. They all seem to have a similar (some more or less than others) result when everything gets heated up. i.e. taking multiple vapes in a short period where some warmth can be felt on the outside of the tank. It seems to be a heat issue. When I use a SS tip that is cool it seems to help until of course that gets warm too.

The carto drying out might have something to it. Never had an issue before.

I second the person who said to go with a higher VG content. Me, and a few of my fellow vapers, tend to have throat harshness when using high PG juices. When your setup gets warm, the juice is going to be more readily vaporized, giving you a bigger hit which may irritate your throat. I have settled in at a 10/90 DIY juice for my all day, and I can tell if I am using a higher PG juice after a few hits.

If it is a burning carto issue you should know it by the terrible taste.

Hope you figure it out!

Ok just switched cartos 2.0 ohm at 8 watts same thing still stings to the throat.

hmlessalky thanks for the tip I will try maybe a 50/50 blend and see where that gets me. I see you are using a couple Reo's. I don't have any of this issue when I drip into an atty I'm wondering if the filler in the carto has something to do with it. Was just last night looking at getting a Reo. To bad they are so hard to get a hold of

Yea if I let it cool it seems to be better but "aint no body got time for that" :D. They only other battery I have are eGo's and they are only 3.3 v so they always hit weak

I agree with you on eGo's. They are the weakest voltage PV on the market and are WAY over-hyped for how they perform. There are so many better PV's than the eGo's.

It sounds like the carto can't keep up with how fast you're vaping. If I chain vape rapidly my PV will get very warm. I don't use carto's so I can't help you there. Maybe take longer drags and slow your exhale. That should help in slowing down how fast you go back to your PV. Try to enjoy the vape instead of it being a race. ;)

If you like the hit of using an atomizer but not the hassle, there is now a tank atomizer. It's called the Killer 705 which fits into a standard carto tank. They are made in Greece and are getting quite a following here on ECF. Here is a big thread on the Killer:

I'm half way wondering if I got a bad batch of eliquid (OMFG) I watched him make it so I dunno. I also have some Ch CH Chai in a UDCT tank from Mister E Liquid and it is far smoother. Same mix ratio and lots more vapor

Well it could very well be the liquid itself hehe~
