I just don't get it. I have 6 iClear 16s that I love. They wick great, vape great, and have never leaked. My iClear 30, however, is going right in the circular file after a week. It makes a MESS every time I fill it. I've tried replacing the atty, over-tightening, under-tightening, only filling it a third of the way. No matter what I do, it starts leaking from somewhere on the bottom. I can't tell if it's leaking between the clear plastic and the metal at the bottom, or from the threads below, and then wicking its way up the side.
Either way, it's a piece of junk. :(

After staring at it for a couple of minutes, I think know that I've found the problem. The threading is way off.

Check out this craftsmanship:

So it looks like I'm S.O.L.. I have not read any good things about Innokin's warranty.
It's a shame, because I love my 16s and iTaste MVP.

No, I never did. I don't know if it took a tap at the wrong angle or something.

It looks like I've figured out a solution though: I am gluing the threads back together (from the inside with marine silicone). Once that's dry, I'm going to flip the tank over, connect what was the bottom threads to the top steel piece, and glue it permanently in place. That way, I can still remove the bottom/atty.

We'll see if any of this works. If not, I'm leaning toward a glass tank for next time.

I've heard nothing but great things about the iClear. Bummer on this one, but sounds like you have a plan.

If you decide to look for an inexpensive pyrex tank, the Aro Pyrex is $7.99 from Discount Vapers, IIRC. It does require its own Aro heads (is a rebuildable) but as ScottP informed me, the Aro heads do work in the Kanger ProTank 2 (in case you have one of those), and also in the EVOD, though the reverse is not true. (That is, Kanger heads won't work in the Aro.) Also, the Aro is a bottom coil and the iClear is a top, so maybe you like the warmer vape.

Anyway, good luck with your iClear project! :)

Glad to see there is a replacement tank option out there for the iclear 30. The iclear 16, 30, and 30s have been all I have used since I started vaping and I have been pleased with them for the most part. BUT I too have leaking issues with all versions of the iclear series from time to time. For example, two of my tanks have changed in composition, but are still sturdy enough to use (i.e., they aren't cracked but rather they are discolored). I am going to upgrade my clearomizers to glassomizers during the next sales period (Christmas) for a more durable product.

Anything plastic screwing onto metal is going to fail eventually. Which is what made me stop using them and to look for something a bit more permanent. They are easy and cheap, but once you vape a while and save a lot of money compared to the cigarettes you were buying, you can use some of that money to buy something of quality that will last and won't leak/break. Or use the money to continue to replace things that are not built for longterm use.

The bottom line is: you are not smoking and can save tons of money over time even replacing disposable items like vivis and clearos. But the health benefits outweigh any piece of gear's price, and whatever keeps you from the cigarettes is a great deal! :2c:

INSTANT UPDATE:

I unscrewed the bottom piece and found the culprit. It's not that the threading is off, it's that it's COMING off. It's splitting right in half!

Yeah... They have to Crank things like this out as Fast and as Cheap as possible to be able to Sell them for the Price people want to pay for them.

Which explains why some of us have great experiences with some products and others have less than great experiences.

Yeah... There is that.

There is also a Huge Difference between many 100% PG e-Liquids and 100% VG e-Liquids Viscosity wise. The thin e-Liquids tend to Leak. And the Thick e-Liquids don't wick well and lead to Dry Hits.

And there is also the Issue of Voltage and Wattage.

It would be Much Easier if all e-Liquids were the same Viscosity. And everyone used the same Voltage.
