So me and my wife are finally gonna make the switch.

After loads of research both here (thank god i found this place) and a bunch of fake crap all over the net. Seems like i am settling on a 510 system with ppc's for both me and my wife. gonna give the xl bats a try for me as well. liked the pricing vs the 808's i had looked at and being able to mix and match down the road with ego type stuff seemed a smart choice (if i decide to got that route). the up front costs do suck a bit but i am hoping on the long run things will even out a bit and get in line with my current smoking expenses. first order is going to include 2 different nic strength juices (24 and 18) as i start to play around with that and see what we like. due to some of the things i do at work and the large amount of driving i do a more compact, and possibly auto system seemed to make more sense then a larger ego type system. hoping the extra batts and the ppc's will do the job for me. me and my wife both are pack a day smokers and have been rolling our own to avoid some of the new taxes for years. I think i have a pretty good handle on the basics although i am sure there is much i will be overlooking.

first order will also include some extra batts and atties for spare as it seems that is a big issue for people starting out and sticking to it. been smoking for 20 years and it is time i knock it off. so here goes. :D

Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping, Galihad (and Mrs. Galihad)! Some things you'll want to consider when first starting out:

Never force yourself. Some people take a little longer to completely switch to e-cigs, some do the same day, but everyone is different.

Don't get discouraged. It's okay to have an analog when you need it. You'll find that the more you use your e-cig, the less you'll need an analog. Again, the timing is different for everyone.

Reinforce your habits. Nicotine was only a fraction of your smoking habit. You had other, more powerful addictions that nicotine. Routine is one of the major ones. Align yourself with the same routine you had while smoking, replacing the analogs with your e-cig, and you'll notice the difference.

Create new habits. As times goes by, and you've gotten the hang of e-cigs, you'll notice new habits developing. These are a good sign that you're making great headway into fully switching to e-cigs.

Don't jump too far ahead. The e-cig world has exploded in the last two years. From super simple 510's, to extremely complex mods and DIY. Stick with your 510. It is one of the best starter e-cigs on the market, has been for years, and will continue to be the guiding light to those looking to make the switch. After a while of using the 510, after establishing a comfortable distance between you and analogs, then go for it.

And, no matter what happens, stay positive. Don't give up. Support each other in this and you'll do fine.

As far as pricing goes, e-cigs are far and away cheaper than smoking analogs. Unless, of course, you become addicted to mods, which, in that case, will be considerably more expensive.

Welcome and congratulations. I'm happy you joined ECF. This is a wonderful place for information and support.

I can't say it any better than Nokosa did. He's right on target. All I can add is don't put pressure on yourself. This isn't like quitting in the past (how we all suffered) and goes by all new rules. If you NEED to smoke.....do it. It's not a failure, just pick up your PV again it's really ok. And try to think of it like your changing brands...NOT quitting. To say your quitting tends to bring up all kinds of needless anxiety that only hurts the cause....And most of all be kind to yourself and know your doing something great and life changing. Good luck!

Welcome to the Forum!!

It seems as if you have done your research and are on the right track. It is all a matter of personal preference but I'll toss in my 2 cents worth. The best prices I've found so far have been at litecigusa. When I started smoking 510's they immediately knocked my pack a day habit down to less than half. But I ended up looking for more vapor and longer battery time between charges. This lead me to 3.7 volt batteries and low resistance 510 atomizers. If you are anything like me then I would suggest looking at the Riva. It's a less expensive eGo clone that comes with 3.7v batteries.

You'll avoid the battery time issue by using a passthrough and the Riva is not automatic so that may not be your cup of tea. You'll find plenty of great people here on ECF to answer questions you have and the best advice I can really offer is ask away and don't get frustrated if your first steps into vaping don't immediately get you off the analogs. It took me about a month to completely quit.

Welcome and good luck to you and your wife! I haven't gotten completely off of analogs yet myself but vaping has cut down my analog habit GREATLY. I hope to someday be free of analogs completely but I only started on this venture earlier this year so I'm not putting a time line or pressure on myself. Many times I find I totally prefer vaping for the sheer pleasure of the taste of that particular e-liquid and have actually went to pick up and light an analog, looked at it, then put it back down and went back to vaping again LOL

I would like to offer you the same thing I offered another newbie here in a thread I just replied to since I have SO much to give away LOL When I first came to these forums I had blown a ton of money falling for scam e-cigs and was at wits end and completely frustrated when I discovered this forum. The members here welcomed me right in and offered to help get me set up by sending me their extra equipment and lots of different e-juice flavors so I could figure out what I liked without having to spend a fortune (again LOL)

All they asked of me was to Pay it forward to someone else someday and after several hours last night and another couple of hours today of sorting through all my small storage tubs (bought specifically to keep my e-cig stuff organized LOL) I now have two little boxes stuffed with e-liquids in all sorts of flavors, flavoring (for mixing your own e-liquid), my old cigarette looking batteries (4 total but 1 is threaded to take 510 carto's and atty's) 2 mini 510's (manual button), the chargers for everything, atty's for the smaller cig looking batteries (I've been using carto's so long now I have no idea where any 510 atty's might be at this point), and other little goodies like a couple of brand new un-used drip tips (1 plastic, 1 metal), a 510 carrying case that I never used (it was a lot smaller in person than it looked on the web site LOL), poly-fill and blue filter galore to refill cartridges (cut to fit, I even included the instructions sent to me by a vendor), and ummm.... I think that is it :)

But mostly there is bunches of e-liquids in many flavors from 0 nicotine all the way to 36mg and everything inbetween and all of it is clearly marked (even the DIY stuff I created) with exact flavor mixture, PG\VG ratio, and nicotine content. If you think you or your wife might be interested in any of this stuff feel free to PM me and I'll mail you what you want at no cost to you :) Same deal I was given when I arrived here applies. Someday, you can PIF to a newbie when you are the vaping veteran welcoming them to the forum and have a bunch of extra stuff someone else can use more than you need it ;)

I admit, I became addicted to trying new flavors and now have found a select few that I vape simply because they taste SO good. LOL

For $29.95 you can get a Riva 510 starter kit that contains two complete Riva 510 ecigs with 750mah batteries (5 to 6 hours heavy vaping between charges), a cone (dresses up the Ecig), and a charger, along with a nice leatherette box.

The Riva 510 is a 3.7v version of the Ego style ecig (3.4v). It will accept any accessory with a 510 thread. That opens up a multitude of options that you will see discussed here on ECF.

Click the 20% off icon at the top of the page to get the $29.95 price.
Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

It's also available in a Boge carto version for $34.99. You get all the parts in the Riva 510 Lite Bundle along with 10 Boge 510 cartos (a $16 value by themselves).

Welcome to ECF! I just wanted to welcome you both to the group and to echo some advice that others have given you. The Riva 510 lite bundle from Liberty Flights is most likely the best value for a starter kit you will find. In fact, I bought a kit myself recently just to try it out and I've been vaping for awhile now with a variety of PVs. I can say it is an awesome kit and I find that it is a perfect all around PV for me and have been using it a lot. Very simple to use and works really well. The cartomizer kit is a few dollars more if you choose to go that route and is still a great value. The Boge cartos are great and are what I personally use most of the time. I will say that the atomizers and carts that come with the Lite bundle work well and give you the added flexibility of dripping (with the addition of a drip tip) which is handy for testing juices if you decide to go with that. You can always buy a box of cartomizers as well to give you a nice range of vaping options. Just don't forget to click on the 20% discount icon at the top of Liberty Flights' home page prior to loading up your shopping basket.

Again, Welcome! You've come to the right place for vaping!
