Timeout and having to log in all the time.

Ok, so I'm hanging out on the boards probably waaaay more than I should here at work. I'm getting kinda frustrated with almost CONSTANTLY having to log in to the board cause it keeps logging me out after what seems to be only about 3-5 minutes. This is pretty annoying, and I've lost several posts I had taken longer than this time to type up. I type it, hit submit, only to find out I've been logged out and have lost everything I just typed. Is there a way to change this in my profile settings? I've tried to search the forum, but can only find about 200 threads that aren't relevant.

First, always make sure you have checked the "Remember Me" box during log on process.

Secondly, from my experience through the years on various forums, I found it best to always highlight and copy your post prior to posting especially on long compositions. The best of forums can be qwirky at times and a copying your work offers a little insurance.

I've become accustomed to doing the copy/paste on almost every post I make just in case. I'm not too worried about typing my id and pw and I can type fast enough it's not an issue. It's just a pain to have to do this every time. I like to refresh the my posts section every so often for updates, and if I don't do it often enough, I have to re-login. So it's not the typing and logging in that's a pain, it's the having to do this so frequently due to the timeout time being so short. It's not that it's quirky. Quirky would only be every once in awhile. This is constant

i don't get logged out if I check the remember me box otherwise it will log me out after a bit

Hm. I do not have this problem. I click "remember me" every time I log in. Now, if I'm not active for a long while, it will log me out, but it doesn't seem to happen quickly. I use Firefox.

K, I'll give the remember me thing a shot and see if it works. Normally I figured it just automatically puts in your name and pw for ya but still logs ya out.

Yeah Mike remember me keeps you logged in for well for a very long time. If you use Firefox, Lazarus is an awesome tool for heavy forum users.

Lazarus is a great tool, and has saved me on several occasions.

Another trick to staying logged in is to make sure your browser isn't set to delete cookies when you close it.

it have never happened to me in 2 years around on any computer and on any browser, i usually never clean my cookies

So far so good. Looks like it works, thanks I'm on a work computer most of the time I'm on the forum. So I can only use what we got, which is IE 8 :/
