Tiny hex(Allen) wrenches hard to find.

I'm finding that my old Grand doesn't quite perform like my newer one. Robert rebuilt the old one already, so there is no real reason why it shouldn't perform like the other one. I'd like to pull the spring which has never been replaced to my knowledge and clean out the hole and noalox the threads. Might help the conductivity. There has been all kinds of gunk, hydraulic oil, etc that has run into that battery compartment over time.
Sure isn't very easy to find a .050 Allen wrench to fit it however. I have a couple of micro-screwdriver sets but none with Allen drivers that go that small. I guess I could special order one but I hate to spend too much on a tool I'll probably lose before I ever have need for it again. Suggestions?

I took both of mine apart this weekend and there was a load of 'gunk' under the spring. Spend the money and get this one or one like it in the proper size. Harder to lose something that has an actual handle on it!!!!!!!!!!!
My grands are hitting like old times. I have cleaned them before-just didn't disassemble the spring and that is exactly where the problem was found

Yes, that's probably good advice and what I'll end up doing. I'd like to find a co-worker or someone I know who has the .050 driver and have him/her take the screw out and I'd replace it with a Phillips screw like my newer one has in it.
At any rate, from the description of your findings this weekend, it sounds like I'm probably on the right track as to why my Grand is faltering a tad. Thanks.

Mine have the phillips head screws-so I was hesitant at posting that link to a hex driver-lol

Try a gun shop for small wrenches - all scope mounts, bases and rings etc come with their own tiny hex wrench - lotsa different sizes. I carry 4 or 5 of them around in my billfold in case a sight comes loose at the Range.

let me find my 'pry' bar first. heheh...

Robert has said in the past that cleaning the screw and applying Noalox can help. Contact point is where screw meets the spring plate.

Most hardware stores will have it in house .
Also if you run your mod dirty for some time it can really oxidize the positive contact . Give the contact a good buffing with a file or emery board . It can be harder to remove then you would think

Meaning the firing pin? A little scuff and if it still seems off, a lil noalox. A dab will do ya!

Yes the firing pin in some cases it may need more then a little scuff if it has been run dirty long enough it can require more then just a scuff to remove the residue
