Hey everyone!

I was wondering if anyone in the Reo community is starting to prepare for a potential "doomsday" in April when the FDA is able to begin their regulations on the e-cigarette industry? Are you guys buying a bunch of nicotine solutions as preparation? I'm getting so nervous because if for some reason they do ban or regulate nicotine I might end up going back to smoking regular cigarettes.... =(
I am planning on buying 500ml. of 36mg. nic solution once Wizard Labs reopens, but with some math I figure that it would last me for about a year or so. I want to stock up on 100mg. solutions as well, but I don't have any ways to store them for long-term (freezer is not a viable option for me at the moment...) so I'm hesitant on buying a lot of nicotine and have it oxidize or taste funny later in the future. I probably will just start off with the 500ml. of 36mg. and see how that goes and buy more before April just in case.

I don't know a lot about this subject but I'm stocking up. Poor Wizard Labs is being slammed lately! There's some talk somewhere on the forum about storing nic juice besides the freezer, maybe you could google it. And I'm sure that someone with a lot more knowledge will come along to give you better answers.

One of the vendors, (can't remember which one), did a study on nic storage and checked the potency every month. I believe the test involved; original packaging at room temp, opened packaging, (cap off), room temp, original packaging with cap off on a window sill in direct sunlight and finally nic stored in a freezer.

Conclusion at the end of the test was that there was no appreciable loss of nicotine potency regardless of storage method.

If you're really good with ECF search function you can probably still find the thread. I believe it was in the e0juice DIY forum.

Yeah I read that post Jack! I think the vendor was Madvapes? But it I only read up to 4-5 weeks of their testing, which definitely is not long-term lol. I'll definitely check again and see if they have any more findings.

We keep a healthy supply of nic, base and flavoring around here...but more because we like to be prepared in general for anything...a friend or family member in need, invasion by aliens, or the zombie apocolypse. Just kidding. Honestly, I don't believe for one moment that the FDA is going to ban any of this stuff. It's too late for that...the industry is too big, there is too much data supporting the industry now and big tobacco is already on board. The way I see it, they're just analyzing the best way to attach a tax to the industry and add some regulation based upon the testing that big tobacco will pay for because they have the money to do so. I'm of the mind that this is more of a finely choreographed dance for the benefit of "joe public" while they get their ducks in order. Don't be fooled...the FDA is a business...and I'm going to stop there before I start stepping up a bunch of soap boxes.

And I forgot to add that I will never go back to smoking. If they were to ban vaping, I guess I'd just spend some well earned time in jail.

I honestly think we'll be looking at some sort of taxation and some kind of regulation that will cost the juice vendors a pretty sum of cash to implement. The smaller companies will more than likely just give up and shut their doors. The larger companies will suck it up and just raise their prices to compensate. Hopefully they (the FDA) will read every comment that was sent in and take into consideration those who should quit smoking but may not be able to if they make juices too costly. That's what I worry about. That and allowing or suggesting additives to be added to the juices. That makes me nervous too.

I agree Lisa! There's WAY too much money to be had from this! But I'm stocking up cuz of the way the prices and such will go! Excessive taxing, regulating! Controlling my vaping?! i don't think so:laugh:

Matt, I have a small reserve, started with 500 ml of 24 mg and redistributed it into 60 mg glass bottles and froze it. Since I use it straight from the bottle, it works out great - just take a new one out a few days before the current, unfrozen one runs out. There are some very good threads on here on how to do it properly, which I followed. I am planning to add a couple of liters to that soon, which I will freeze in glass jars capable of holding 500ml. Once i run out of the "smaller bottles" i will reload em. The redistribution process into small bottles requires patience, which I lack. I also plan to stock up on cartos and perhaps add a vv REO to my arsenal.

This is the reason I started looking into box mods in the 1st place, and why I ultimatly ended up starting with the REO Grand. It's THE top quality, more or less indestructible, mechanical box mod. The fantastic looks are just icing on the cake. Anything that could go wrong with it would be pretty easy to repair or replace if the worst case scenario came to pass. A few rebuildable atomizers, and a couple of liters of nic juice and I'd figure to be all set for years. I plan on buying a liter of either 60mg or 100mg soon to store, then see which way the wind blows to decide on buying another liter. A liter of 60mg nic juice cut to 15mg would net me 4 liters of juice, over 2 years worth of vapeing 5ml a day. I think.

How difficult is it to mix your own e-juice? How do you "cook" the flavor you want? Any easy to follow guide on this? I can't believe FDA and other greedy corporations wants to shut down e-cigarettes when it's so beneficial compared to regular cigs.

That's a smokescreen! err, so to speak! They just want to ban it till they can figure out ways to get their grubby greedy hands in the pot.
