Been building on my rda's for a while now and still watching others do their own build on youtube. They always say "not too tight, not too loose" while tugging on the wick. I've always wondered how much force is that? So, for your perfectly wicked coil, whats the minimum number of coins or grams does it take to pull the wick out from the coil? or how much weight can the wick hold before it slips out from the coil?

Too many and too few.....

Too much it comes out, too little it stays put. Some time too much results in dry burny hits sometime it too little. Some time floodiing is due to too much and sometime too little. What perfect for this coil in that atty, won't work fo rthe same build in the next. Problem is the correct amount are NOT a constants. It can be different for every build, atomizer , builder, and coil.

Not too much and not too little. That's what all the printed instruction manuals seems to say. Very confusing. Bottom line for me is that I wick loose with rayon for max VG and up (can hold the coil in place and pull the wick through without the coil deforming) and snug with 50/50 and higher PG blends (must twist the wick through the coil).

Twist one end of the wick to get it through the cool. Leave a little extra length to cut off the twisted end. After in place, untwist and work in back and forth a little through the coil. If you can't pull it easily from side to side it's to tight. If the cotton is so loose it easily slides completely out, it's to thin.
Once you have coil mm preference try with more rather than less cotton. If it's to tight you can take the small tool your working with and snag a pinch out until it's just snug.
Then take a pic and remember the amount that works for you. Trial & error but once you got it right, you will know it from the performance!
    Hope thus made sense!

The wick density can vary depending on the application. Lower resistance builds pushing a lot of power generally use more wick. Whatever you do you never want so much wick that the coil gets pulled and distorted.

It's also better to have a little more than a little less. Too little wick and the wick will not make full contact with the coil and you'll taste a hot coil. Too much and it might taste like cotton for a bit, too too much and it won't feed and burn.
